Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 10th August 2015]

Yaya's always been capable of these type of performances. What's he's not capable of is consistency or changing a game when things aren't going City's way.

He's frustratingly inconsistent and has had generally poor fitness since he joined City. From his first season to last season the number of games he is barely doing anything from 50 mins onwards in a game is embarrassing for a professional footballer(in the past 15 years). Thing is this is usually after relatively light first halfs, I can understand a player having an insane half running his arse off being tired in the second half, but Yaya with most of his performances being tired is daft.

He has always had moments of quality, his problem is doing it over 90 minute performances, hell, doing it for a full 45 minutes would be a huge improvement. For a big central midfielder on a huge wage he should influence more games than he does, he should do better over the full 90 minutes, he should have far fewer bad games and his fitness shouldn't drop off as badly as it does.

He for me hasn't actually been good enough over the past 5 years in general, on form one of the best midfielders in the world but one of the least consistent midfielders in the world. Awful in europe.... should that be surprising, one of the most important players in the team struggling at his worst when asked to play extra games midweek?

City need to get rid of him not because he isn't good enough in talent, but his inconsistency is something a big team can't deal with. AS yet they've had him in most european games and sucked hard in europe. For a team that has won the title twice in 4 years but been worse than the rest of the top four in europe and Yaya being one of the worst performers on that stage the club can't afford to build the midfield around him IMHO.
