Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 10th August 2015]

Actually Shaw has had moments of linking well with Young, holding the ball and winning it back well down that left side between them.

Rooney, again there got the ball from Depay, took a poor touch getting it stuck under his feet, had space forward/right of him but randomly went forward and left, slowly, then screwed up a 5 yard pass. Had he run 20 yards with it into space and allowed Depay to also run into space they could have done something. Rooney has been absolutely dire.

Slow start but getting better towards the end. Darmian and Depay have looked very positive. Scheniderlin too has run around trying to win the ball back....something we're not used to having Carrick :p

Young has been alright, Rooney has been ok. Carrick has been pretty poor so far though, static and caught on the ball a few times. Need someone far more positive alongside Schneiderlin.

Rooney looks way off the pace. Passing accuracy and reactions are poor. On the upside I think Depay and Mata both look sharp, Mata more so when he comes into the middle. Romero looks very shaky with the ball at his feet.

to be fair Schneiderlin got caught badly a couple of times too

Carrick rarely starts the season well, but by the end he will again be indespensible

With all the money BT must have spent to get TV rights why didn't they spend some money on decent commentators.

Regardless of the scoreline, I'm not impressed with United at all. Spurs have been beyond woeful and United have a one goal lead through an OG.

I just cannot see them troubling the big 3 this year. And they are gonna have a bloody big fight on their hands to even get into the champions league.

First game of the season, debuts for 4 players...perhaps a touch soon to write them off?

One of the best players in the world is warming up for you,, Rooney is barely playing football and Carrick is rubbish, you're pretty much playing 9 against 11 and doing pretty well. Own goal doesn't matter, it was forced not a complete accident. Rooney looks no where near fit but should improve over the next month(he needs to). Bastian being match fit and involved will make the world of difference.

More importantly Spurs were the better team probably till the goal, Utd played their way into the game and played to make Spurs look bad.
