Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 11th February 2015]

Another poor performance, but another good result.

Not sure what can be said that hasn't been done to death already, not convinced by the formation and team selection, having Di Maria and Januzaj wide seemed to work a lot better, rather than using the diamond.

Only Di Maria did well I thought, he messed up quite a few opportunities but all our positive play went through him and he caused the Burnley defence a fair few problems.

Hahahaha. First he takes Cisse off for Abeid and now Cabella off for Dummett. Carver really is Pardew's student. He has us **** scared of Palace.

Can't wait 'til we get an actual head coach in.

Spot on. Play brilliantly and win 5-0 = 3 points. Scrape a 3-1 win against near bottom of the league = 3 points. Di Maria did well i thought tonight. Hopefully RVP can go on and get into some kind of form after the penalty.

yes it may be spot on in terms of the points but by that measurement and the money you've spent, it would be fair to say that the question mark over LVG should now be illuminated by circus lights

Wasn't di Maria responsible for giving the ball away for their goal?

Cant really say much given how your team spent the bale money and more , and yet haven't improved by much if anything.........

The league appears to be FAR more competitive than it has for years

5 point spread between 3rd and 7th, 8 points between 9th and 14th

and 12th and 18th giving the leaders a really good hard game in the last few days (with a lot of games hard to call)

It will be interesting to see how City react once the CL games start again - no danger of them dropping too far but they could drop enough to make 2nd /3rd/4th even more interesting (as if 3rd/4th isn't tight enough)

LVG's target is top 4 (ie. CL football).
If he achieves this, he will have met his target.
Next year will be a title challenge.
E.Woodward has already told investors that 3rd place is the target...and we are currently in...3rd place.

This is a results business and as long as football managers achieve pre-agreed targets, they generally keep their jobs.

I can only hope that LVG gets his team selection right next year, because this year, it has been a little strange.

Oh, and we need to get Falcao out of here, asap - this guy just isn't Man Utd material. Burnley's Ings showed both Falcao and Van Persie just how bad they truly were today.

players which poch probably wouldn't have signed bar possibly eriksen

we've improved a lot under poch

Do you think you will be able to keep hold of Kane?
He is Tottenham's jewel right now and in the Summer, I can see many clubs coming knocking. I wouldnt be surprised if Man Utd & LIverpool were one of them.

Newcastle caretaker manager John Carver: "It's another game unbeaten, that's one win, three draws and two defeats now, which is not bad in this league."
17% win rate is just fine, what with the tough opposition we've been up against. No, wait, it's horrific, especially considering the run of fixtures we have coming up.

I'd honestly lay off Carver if it wasn't almost guaranteed that if we don't get relegated he'll be gifted the job full-time, and if he wasn't such a cowardly ****. I think if that does happen and it doesn't go to someone like De Boer or Garde then I'm done until high levels of cholesterol eventually save this club from its death.
