Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [7th - 9th November 2014]

Lovren and Johnson walk back in the team despite looking far worse than the players that replaced them, 2 man midfield with Gerrard and Mario upfront on his own...

This appears to be a case of a manager that's run out of ideas so keeps playing the same team in the hope they'll just click.
I'm fairly sure that manquillo must be injured but **** me lovren

God some liverpool fans do need a wake up call. Its like they have contracted the Running man virus.
We've played well once this season in nearly 20 games and we're extremely lucky to be in the top half of the league.

I'd hope so, he's been a massive plus in a god awful season so far considering his age and the time it usually takes foreign players to adapt to the Premiership.

Why? Cant arque with what has been said here really, Rodgers is insisting on Mario upfront on his own IT DOESNT WORK! It never has we have Borini who could play with him in the 20mins he has Mario has looked better, Johnson coming back into the team is a joke.

When players like Toure come in and do a brilliant job against best side in Europe to be dropped now is a joke of a decision.

Im all for defending our manager but when its same mistakes for what is the 8th game running you have to say no sorry this is some of your own doing now.

Is that the same Toure that people didn't want in the team? or the borni who shouldn't have been in the team. Last year i would have preferred to have ended 4th. I agree that Rodgers is making mistakes but With the amount of goals and assists we are missing with stig/saurez out, it was going to be a tough start for us.

Yeah and then Rodgers did drop Toure when needed but is unable or afraid to do it with Lovren, Players deserve 2nd chances and he has earned that after the last performance imo

Borini never had a chance last year with Sturridge+Suarez so moot point really.

Im not expecting us to challenge for the title at all but i don't expect same daft mistakes week in week out when they could be avoided or at least try to avoid them.

Borini in a front 3 playing fast counter attacking football is never going to work because he doesn't have the pace.

Borini in a two man attack in front of a team playing passing football is an entirely different prospect. I don't think he's good enough for the Liverpool of last season but this season we're playing a completely different style of football a few levels below last season and he can now offer us something again.

Toure's a poor defender but Lovren's been worse so far by a long shot.

I still can't believe we're not playing Lallana. It's hard to fit him in when Coutinho and Sterling are playing well, but he's still been one of few bright spots this year.

Liverpool fans. I'm slightly confused. I appreciate that the starting XI aren't in fine form, but i don't see any brilliant alternatives on the bench? The odd one may be 25m man lallana not playing much and that it may be worth giving Borini a long run out.

On paper the 4-2-3-1 we're playing doesn't suit the players in the team, in reality it's even worse.

A 4-4-2 diamond with Gerrard on his own in front of the defence, Sterling or Coutinho at the tip of the diamond and Balotelli and Borini upfront is what I'd hope to see us playing after so many unsuccessful attempts of shoehorning the wrong players in to a 4-2-3-1 but we're sticking with something that hasn't worked and doesn't look like it will.
