Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9 - 12th March 2013]

Is there some history between Begovic and Taylor of Newcastle? What would make the defender act like such an idiot during their game on Sunday?

I noticed Taylor run to the keeper and celebrate when they scored then I saw this:

He does it pretty much all the time, this is not the first time he has done this. It actually works too...

He celebrated like that due to Begovic doing a ball boy type of time wasting prior to the free kick being taken.

Big night tonight. Barnsley away is not easy, with them desperately needing points to stay up, but the play-offs hinges on a win here, and it would be vital to go in to the big game on Sunday with confidence....Pity we will only have one striker fit out of 5 for both of these games.:(

Leicester away at Cardiff as well, so if we win and they don't we will go above them and Forest tonight in to 5th, and only 6 pts behind Palace;)

Leeds vs Peterborough is the most obvious both teams to score bet I have ever seen too.

Bottom of the football league on Saturday, then we beat York in a humdinger on Saturday 3-2, and then tonight a tricky away game to Southend and come away with a 3-1 win that puts us 18th, 5 points away from the relegation zone! Amazing stuff, quite close to securing our league place now!

Got a funny feeling you'll stay up. How's Alan Bennett playing for you?

We won one of those games we had no right to. Felt sorry for the Swindon fans - a) because they took 1,500 fans away on a Tuesday night and b) because they support Swindon

1500 fans, whats the average attendance at Brentford these days,I used to keep an eye out mostly in worry as the numbers seemed to be getting pretty damn awful at one point, 1500 away fans sound pretty awesome though.

From stats more than watching highlights I get the impression there have been a shedload of games we've dropped points when deserved the win, thats just football really. Was a huge win, shame for Swindon though, before DI Canio threw a hissy fit they were looking crazy strong for automatic promotion on form. Hmm, if he takes the Reading job, I do wonder if he didn't know the owners were looking to replace him when he quit. I have high hopes for Brentford but when you see how tight the top 9 are, and with almost 30 points to play for, we're in the fight but no way assured of anything.

How's it looked at the games since the Chelsea games(first one really) as form seems to have gone out the window, 5 wins in 14 since I think the draw for the Chelsea game, 8 in 10 before that. Got not a terrible run in, but Doncaster in the final game, and Sheffield Utd in two games are going to be stupid important for keeping the automatic spots in reach.

Yeah, it's looked thoroughly underwhelming since Christmas I'm afraid. We have a very young team, I think with 7 of the team last night being under 22, and they're suffering from mental fatigue.

We've now played ten cup games, and will likely play two to three play-off games, meaning that we'll have played just shy of 60 games this season - which is a hell of a lot for a thin squad.

Stevenage and Carlisle were both terrible, no organisation or commitment. Although I did say that we'd go on a bit of a run if we won last night... We've got an interesting run-in, with some easier games against the likes of Portsmouth and Hartlepool mixed in with tough games against Sheffield United and potentially MK Dons.

Last game of the season against Doncaster could prove to be the biggest home league game in over a decade :)
