Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9 - 12th March 2013]

Usually it's because there is nothing on. With Defoe he will always looks to shoot first, even if there is 3 players around him and no chance of a shot even testing the keeper, and a couple of Spurs players in better positions. It must be ridiculously frustrating to play alongside him and a new striker has to be a priority next season.

As a Spurs fan, I am really impressed with Coutinho. Walker just had no clue how to cope with him (story of the season for him).

Think he is going to be a monster of a player for us once he gets his fitness up, astonishing Inter let him go considering what they have left.

Echo what others have said about spurs front 2, zero interplay between them and tbh spurs looked a little lost if Bale wasnt doing anything in an attacking sense.

I dont think anyone can fail to be impressed with Coutinho so far, obviously still remains to be seen how he'll do when defenders 'figure him out' but so far he's done very well

up until the 2nd goal, coutinho, suarez, sturridge, none of them were in the game second half. they were quite easy to contain imo.

are liverpool fans still not understanding why gerrard shou'd've been booked?

if we get top 4, spurs need better than BAE and walker. our cb pairing is sound but we're getting too sloppy down the flanks now to be consistent.

i'd get shot of defoe and manu and get another strike force in too.

He looks ok most of the time but my god he's so one footed, I can't remember him being so unconfident on his right at Newcastle.

He was made to look a lot better at Newcastle thanks to having Guti running mile after mile to always support him.

Still a good player though all told.

Meant to ask this earlier but does anyone know what those classy Leeds fans were (presumably) singing at Zaha at the weekend? He's had to take to twitter to apologise for his reaction to them....

Yes, why don't you tell us why he should have been booked, his elbow didn't touch his head, at most it was his shoulders. I thought Bale had gone down due to a clash of heads at first, but then Gerrard was just stood there. Not like Bale to simulate anything is it ;)

Walker is fine, he is young give him a chance.
BAE has his moments of madness but is normally solid. He needs to adapt to doing what Walker does with offering ALL the width now Bale has moved inside.

Get rid of Ade, Keep Defoe as a sub.

Man U related abuse all game by all accounts, so he gave them the middle finger.

2 fantastic crosses? The first was a decent cross but no Liverpool defender was within 10 yards of him and then nobody challenged Vertonghen. The second was just a lump into the box (that we pathetically failed to deal with) not a fantastic cross. Neither of your goals came from excellent play - both should have been easily defended.

And hard pushed to have been awarded the other pens? Maybe the Sturridge one, which as I initially said, book him for the exaggerated reaction if you wish but his reaction doesn't change the fact that Vertonghen fouled him. I'd love to know the reasons why Walker getting wrong side of Coutinho and hauling him back and Vertonghen sliding straight through Johnson (without getting near the ball) aren't pens though.

Rose tinted Liverpool coloured glasses I'm afraid, I'm chalking it down to an unlucky loss.

it wasn't for the bale challenge and was shown on motd2.

i know he's young but he's had lots of chances but if we want to be consistent top 4 challengers, he can't make mistakes like yesterday. BAE has always been too casual imo. makes risky turns and half arsed clearances too much. he's decent but i don't care for his blasé attitude at times.

naughton and rose aren't the answer (yet). i'd like us to make a move for baines in the summer and see if we can scout a rb with the composure of vert too, there's got to be one out there somewhere :p

vert gives 100% everytime, i feel others don't at times and it must infuriate him. i felt so sorry for him when he ran back onto the line after the balls up by walker (and lloris who should've been more commanding) and it ended up going through his legs! plus let's not forget his 2 goals. him and dembele deserved to be on a winning team.

I really disagree with you, stand out season last year and having a few moments this season admittedly but look at Rafael at UTD, great full back after a crap start, again young and will make a few errors, hell Ashely Cole, one of the highest rated full backs of all time didnt start as perfect. I think you want too much too soon!
