Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 11th November 2018]

Robertson plays them on for me, but hey ho decision benefitted us.

We should be doing much better anyway, Shaqiri has looked great again, Fabinho looks good today.

Trent needs a break by looks of it.

Firmino has been invisible again, he looks woeful this season so far

His arm was just offside, but arms don't count do they, so he's just onside I think, very tight though.

In that situation the benefit of the doubt should go to the attacker. So Fulham have been hard done by, but shouldn't have switched off.

Its incredibly close. Does the rule about it favouring the attacker if in doubt still apply?

My opinion is that its onside and truthfully we should be 1-0 down rather than 1-0 up. However, we are leading, it would put us top of the table and put pressure on city for the Manchester derby which can only be a good thing, but really need VAR next season. I'm sure that over the course of a season as many decisions as these will go against us as go for us, so it balances out in the end I guess.

On a different note though, Mane has been shocking today, terrible decision making, stray balls etc. I'd be inclined to take him off, go to Firmino, Salah and Shaqiri up front and put on Keita.

His head/shoulder are offside

Shoulder, head and left foot.

But I agree that the benefit should go to the attacker

You should know by now that I'm the only one that does the banning round here rob.

Say we had Var though, would the ref stop it there or still let us play on and then decide there goal?
It would have been stopped - VAR has to be used as soon as the ball goes out of play which would have been the goal/offside decision.
I've watched it a few times and I think it's borderline.
A trip to specsavers is needed then. BT just had the offside line up and half his body was offside.

agreed but consider the directions the players are running. robertson and mitro are running in opposite directions so by the time the linesman turns his head from the player putting the cross in to look for offside it probably looks like a much clearer offside. they would be about a yard or two apart by then.

just another case for VAR.

I can see why you think that on initial viewing, but the line actually runs under the players, zooming in his back is maybe just over, but there's no way the linesman knew that. Benefit of the doubt to the attacker.

Not that it even matters now :p

His shoulder is just over, but it's not often you score with that (and it gets given).

They will all make Alisson double take anyway so take your pick. You can't have 3 lads running ahead like that and not expect to be flagged offside.
