Carroll has been given the benefit of the doubt a couple of times, I guess its "fair" that Gabriel was given the same. It was an awful challenge though.

It was a bad challenge, but as he was on the floor while it was studs there was no momentum so it wasn't as bad as people are making out in that sense. Except Gabriel thought he was done and his taking down Carroll was an attempt to stop a goal scoring chance. It should be a red more for the latter than the former. He also went down pretty soft and let Carroll in, not at all convinced that was a foul by Carroll. So should have been played on then red for last man back.
