Feel really sorry for Sturridge, he's a great player. 
This imo. At only 28 too, physically he looks wrecked. Some say that he needs a run of games to get back physically but how can he get a run of games when he breaks down every few matches.

Don't think you can coach a 29 year old on 400k a week to kick the ball into the net.
Or shouldn't actually need to.. . By that point it's motivation and direction. .

Yeah, that is about as far from correct as you've ever been.
When you get truly great at something, you don't just stay great, you have to maintain it with practice. If you're a elite level drummer and you don't practice every day, you'll no longer be at the same level, same for literally anything and everything. Once you get good if you don't continue practising you don't maintain the level.
I'm talking in a much broader sense than once chance. Years of failure to play good football (bar the odd game). Sanchez was the only player who looked half decent against Newcastle so I'm not going to moan about him.

So you're saying that mourinho could have taken 20 years of coaching he's had, thrown it away and coached him in another way in the last 2 weeks that would have made him kick the ball into the net?
Training and sharpness is not the same thing as coaching someone to make that decision or not. The player has to use his own brain once he gets into the pitch. You can just train them, direct and motivate...
