Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 13th September 2011]

Boro have started the season well and have won all 3 of their away games. I'm over the moon they have managed to hold on to all of their players but still slightly worried that they couldn't bring in another striker as we're desperately short, I think Emnes is our only recognised striker with Mcdonald injured. I still think we'll notch up our 4th away win against Burnley though.... and maybe go top :p

He was only on there on loan, he looked very good though

Oh yeah that was it, I think he signed a pre-contract with some Italian club before he went on loan to Swansea from Chelsea. Then he was saying he's definitely not going back to Chelsea, basically giving the Swansea fans false hope and then after the playoffs he went to Italy. :/

Can't remember the name of the guy Swansea just brought in to play up front, but he cost them a few bob and so far he's been terrible.

TheY had a guy last season they spent 6m odd on and he was woeful, think he was Italian, he got shipped off to another club anyway IIRC.

Wasn't it Danny Graham from Watford?

Borini had signed a pre contract at Parma which we didn't know at the time, so thought we had a chance of getting him. He's since signed for Roma on loan for the reason for £1mil+ with the chance of them buying him at the end for about £6mil.
Graham was the championship leading scorer last year and our record signing, but he's struggling to find the net now and missing chances he would have scored last year. All our players are feeling the pressure now and not composing themselves in front of goal.

All the big teams playing on Saturday :(

I like when theres a couple of big games on the Sunday, can chill at home/friends and watch football all day (inc the late Spanish offering) :D

I can see QPR being a touch game for us on monday, also seeing Barton having an awesome game against us as thats what happens when we sell (give them away for nothing) players.

Hope we get all 3 points as 10 points after 4 games and Il be a happy geordie, until next week :p

Not looking forward to Wigan this saturday.

The only team that worry me :o, i dont know why i just always expect them to get a result against us.

We are in fantastic form though. Great chance for Balotelli to stake his claim for a regular place. A Johnson likely to come in for Nasri also and has a big point to prove after his last performances. Dzeko starts but off at HT for Tevez i reckon.

Wigan are the only team that worry you? Granted our last home performance against them was ridiculous, and we didn't really deserve all 3 points the way the back end of the match was going, but we have much bigger worries than Wigan. Even if we win every other game this season Everton will still take 6 points off us, even if we batter them into submission for 90 minutes.

Yeh!
I just always feel like they will win. No idea why :o

I think we will batter them, a possible 5-0/6-0 if the performance i watched at WHL is anything to go by.

Not sure what the question is, he's rubbish on the wing, he's never been a winger, Wenger's a moron and I've said for the best part of 5 years now, either give him a chance upfront or ship him out. You can see from his stats that the main reason for more goals was more shots, good players shoot more, his pass completion is decent, because most of the time he passes backwards, his assist rate is higher because of the finishing, NOT because he created more chances, his crossing is getting worse statistically, and he was rubbish to start with, his dribbling success rate is laughable.

He leaves the team so completely open where ever he plays, he has no positional awareness defensively, nor much offensively, when he should kill himself to get far post, he doesn't, while vastly slower players like Bendtner do it and create goals by doing so, against Barca, a few minutes after coming on the pitch and Theo hadn't bothered all night till that point. Where have some of his easy tap ins come from lately, making that run to the post to get on the end of a cross with an easy tap in.

Thing is Freddie used to do that, AND had so much more to his game. He's horrible running with the ball, he's insanely lazy, defensively he has no clue whats going on, attitude is completely wrong, he's injury prone, his forward passing/crossing/throughballs are pathetic.

he's a one trick pony, run at defence and hope someone as good as Cesc sets up him with the perfect throughball, and hope he doesn't have to make too many touches before he gets to shoot, and hope he gets 5 perfect chances a game, because he'll likely get one goal out of it.

Theres, honestly, almost every winger in the league is more effective than him, every player has a flukey year they score way more than normal, his game hasn't changed dramatically, to a certain degree its Arsenals increasing weakness that see's teams attack us more and leave space in behind, the only time Theo looks even slightly dangerous.

As with football, its a team game, the only time you want a guy on the pitch who can do nothing but run in behind, is playing him as a striker, play someone slow and poo as a winger, like Crouch, and you're hurting the central midfielders, the right back, the defence and the strikers, play him upfront and he can do the one thing he's half useful at. Theo hurts the team drastically more than he helps it.

Ah thanks so it seems abit of a pointless memebrship =/ Cool and yeah i know of that thread just wonderd what the membership actually entitled you too.

Cheers BaZ

I'm a member and I don't think it's pointless. I get a faultless stream of commentary during the games, plus I can watch 40min highlights from all of our games stretching back to 00-01, a lot of which include the full 90 min vids.

I also enjoy all the little vids that get put up with interviews from the players etc. Like I just got a giggle out of Carragher saying one of his top 5 transfers of all time was Torres going to Chelsea.

Also all the action from Europe, other cups, plus all our reserves and youth teams games. £2.99 a month really isn't bad at all considering I spend that much a day on lunch.
