Greenlizard0 Weekend Football Thread ** spoilers ** [9th - 15th December 2016]

We easily deserved to win that (against a poor team admittedly), but tried our best to throw it away for the majority of the second half.

I got all 8 games right tonght in the prediction league, not often that happens :o

Glad I picked Chelsea pre season too.

Yeah Rojo should have been off, twice in recent weeks. He's just not reliable enough, these lunges need to stop now. he had a great game against Spurs but you just can't have this kind of unreliability in a central defender.

Only saw the late goal from Zlatan, which was decent. I've heard (from a Palace fan :p) that Rojo should have been off for another two footed lunge - true? Did he get sanctioned/might there be retrospective action?

Wasn't as bad as the Everton one but yes, it was pretty bad.

Tackle on Bailly - min yellow.
Cabaye dive - yellow.
United goal - handball(?) and offside.
Rojo tackle - red rather than yellow.
Blatant handball and penalty.
Wrongly disallowed United goal.
Ibrahimovic swinging arm.
Pogba dive - 2nd yellow?

Have I missed anything?

It was a poor performance from the ref.

Incredibly fortunate to come away with three points from that, pretty shocking performance against a team we should be comfortably beating. Pogba MOTM by a long way.

considering Utd should have had a penalty and Mata scored a good goal Im not sure it should have been that much of a struggle

Palace also got a very dodgy free kick from which they scored given that the tackle was totally ok (even if it was from behind) - albeit Rojo should have been sent off in the first half.

Main reason why I think Utd need shot of Rojo asap , otherwise he will cost us games before the end of the season (as he obviously isnt learning not to frly in with two footed tackles).

Im also not convinced it was handball - all BT replays seemed to be with Ibra's body blocking the ball so not sure how they all can be so convinced.

Tackle on Bailly - min yellow.
Cabaye dive - yellow.
United goal - handball(?) and offside. - Impossible to tell from the replays (definitely NOT offside)
Rojo tackle - red rather than yellow. - Agreed
Blatant handball and penalty. Agreed
Wrongly disallowed United goal. Agreed
Ibrahimovic swinging arm. Not sure he actually swung his arm, and he was obviously looking at the ball, but there was arm to face contact
Pogba dive - 2nd yellow? Not in a month of sundays from reasonable officials as there was contact on his trailing foot , at that pace, would definitely cause him to fall

Have I missed anything?

Mata looked onside to me. The issue is Rojo should have been sent off, so he shouldn't have even been there to set up the goal. I don't think we come away with three points if we go down to ten men in the first half. Thus I'm going to say we were very, very lucky.

It's about time we had some luck.

and there are numerous times that ten men have actually won games vs 11 - so thats pretty meaningless

If anything that could have easily encouraged Palace to attack more, which could have made it easier for us to score more......

Carrick wouldnt have even had to move back that much further to cover Rojo, and MC could have done basically the same roll he did anyway.

Well we had the same luck against Everton when Rojo wasn't sent off there. I don't think our luck has been bad at all. We've just been....poor. I mean we basically had 100% possession for the first 30 mins of the match, what did we do with it? Nothing.
