I think De Gea is around 6 ft 2. Rewatching the line up during the National Anthem De Gea looks to be the same height as Vidic.

Cleverley played well today as did Smalling. I agree with TheRunningMan though, Anderson was brilliant. The through balls and the way he shielded the ball today was great.

Excited for the start of this season to see how the CM will pan out. Anderson and Cleverely has impressed during this pre-season that I'm happy without us signing a top class CM.
 
Is it alright if I do the football thread next weekend or is someone already doing it / working on it? :)

Baz has a few good points about De Gea, it will be an interesting first season for him. Can't believe that he was ever listed at 6ft4. He looks 6ft1 at best and must weight 10 stone. :p
 
I'll admit when I saw the first goal I thought "Hm, wouldn't VDS just catch that?", but then upon inspection there was a huddle of players so maybe it wasn't all that simple after all.
 
It was a strange (low) angle at the end of the match so maybe unfair to compare - but it looked like De Gea was only slightly smaller than Hart when they shook hands yesterday (I was hoping for some stat as to Hart's height on the BBC squad selector....but they havent of course published them yet)

Both goals were reasonably easy to save - and he is probably kicking himself over them, but also I expect him to take it in his stride and by the end of the season be saving both types with regularity.

A lot of people (media in general) arent really commenting on the decent saves he made , which imo makes it look a little worse than it really is.

Smelling got carried away? Jesus what happened to johnny Evans? I was sure he was going to pass through ball. just knock it left to rooney i shouted at the tv. but he just kept going and going until passing the ball was no longer an option?!
 
Yeah, I thought he'd knock it left to Rooney as well but then I noticed he didn't know he was there and then he got dispossessed :o

Not a bad run though.
