Couldnt find anything for my CPU, but i ran the intel test thing and it said its working fine.

I have SATA, but didnt need to put anything in for them... (i havnt got a floppy drive anyway)

and i installed everything from the P5W disk.
First this is not the graphics problem, its another little one. You do need to install AHCI right at the start of the XP install, but there is a way of putting them in later. Your running the SATA in a IDE mode, it'll slow them down a bit. If you look in the bios page 1, under IDE configuration you'll see AHCI, don't put it on unless you install the drivers first or it'll crash. Look at mine under ATAPI you can see the AHCI installed.

Its always best to switch off anything your not using in the bios. Like RAID or networks. Also the drivers on the disk are out of date, best to download the latest drivers directly from Intel, Marvell and Realtek.

Doubt any of that will fix it. I'd get all the latest drivers, find some way of installing AHCI and switch it on. Then reinstall. Unless anyone can think of something else to try.

I think i forgot to install ACHI drivers also, is that why my hard drives are running slower than they should?

Ill have to have a reformat, i cant find any achi drivers however, are they part of the RAID set?

Yes a bit maybe, they will be at the PATA max 133Mb/s, not SATA's 150/300 Mb/s

The driver CD or from Intel direct, both have a small app that creates a 3.5 floppy with the drivers. It is possible to put the drivers on without AHCI enabled, then switch it on. Don't switch it on first, it kills the install.

Hello again,

Just reformatted, installed the ACHI driver from a floppy i made while installing windows again, what do i do now?

Bios page 1, IDE configuration. Select AHCI option. Reboot, if it works, then the driver is working. Check the device manager just to be sure.

If it doesnt work what does that mean, did i install the wrong ACHI driver? I definately installed it as when i pressed F6 it asked for a file and i installed the ACHI one, hopefully it'll work.

It doesnt seemed to have worked! What have a done wrong? When i set it to ACHI my computer BSOD's.

Is there any other options in the BIOS that i need to change? When i set it to ACHI then trying to install windows this didnt work either, just crashes.

How would you go about installing achi drivers?

Many thanks

Josh
