Grid 2

So I tried it and the cars don't feel like they have any life in them. Every car I tried was just tap the brakes, steer and accelerate and you drifted around every corner, even in the Indy car. The graphics do look nice the reflections and the performance is really good but I don't think its that great gameplay wise. I tested crashing into the AI as well and that was boring, they just kept going straight and nothing happened. I also figured out you can win every race if you just go in front of the AI since they don't overtake you, that won't really be a problem in MP though.

I did manage to T-bone an AI at Miami I think it was and they retired, that was fun but thats all I've found fun so far.

Really miss being able to drive in cockpit view though, loved everything about it in the first Grid.

If you like being able to drift without any skill then you'll probably enjoy this :p In the first Grid it wasn't as simple as tap the brakes at every corner to slide around it, you actually felt like you were doing something.

That's what I liked about GRID; the car selection was small, but each car had it's own distinct 'personality'

murray you try it on wheel or joypad or keyboard.

grid 1 is as easy to drift in with a wheel i know as i dl day before this to try it out to see the difference ;)

I tried it on wheel but it just felt wrong right away and couldn't be bothered trying to set it up properly so I just used the 360 pad.

Pretty much every car in Grid feels the same. There may as well be American, sports and Supersports. Every car feels rear wheel steer and slides around corners at 150mph with no effort.

Career mode so far is dull and boring just replaying the same bit of track over and over with different opponents. The Ai is dire and even on hard it is easy to win.

Hopefully multiplayer may add some life but for me so far they have taken everything that was great about Grid and binned it and replaced it with all the Crud from Showdown and Dirt 3.

I'm only really playing it to try and get my £26 worth but after a day or so I'm bored senseless and have been playing the original which is so much better.

For me -

-Good points-

The Graphics are nice but nothing amazing would like good on a console but average for Pc. Some nice lighting alhtough the bonnet cam is ott

Pick up and play no messing around just drive.

Might be fun in multiplayer.

Good sense of speed.

-Bad points-

No incar view

It's not Grid

The handling is awful centre steer forklift cars

The announcer keeps calling me "Pal" and needs to die

Progression is based on internet fans and youtube likes

The cars all feel the same even super cars drift around corners with no real feel of grip

A lot of the races are one on one racing different apponents on the same bit of track 4 times it's boring.

The AI is not great and feels like tanks if you drive into them.

Stupid replay icon in the middle of screen every time you scrape a wall or another car.

5/10 raising to a 6/10 if the online play turns out to be any good.

In the first Grid there are options to turn off break and steering aids. Does Grid 2 have the same?

I actually had a look for that and I couldn't find any but there probably is.

Just checking now and it seems you can only increase the damage level from visual to full and the difficulty of the AI.

well after enjoying playing grid1 i have to say grid2 is very disappointing only thing the game has going for it is the graphics!

Oh lets be fair and say it as it is…. The game is a racing game, arcade or sim, doesn’t matter. It’s going up against forza and GT on the consoles and to some extent Shift 2 and pCars on the PC.

pCars is maybe an unfair comparison, but its still going to be put into the same group and compared, and pCars has in car view and graphics to match.

So, what does Grid 2 have? Erm nothing that any of those games I’ve mentioned has with exception from the sounds of having decent graphics.

And you shouldn’t need to mod a brand new release to get what you want. And console owners, they can’t mod the game at all, and its not about PC master race. Its totally unfair that a PS3 gamer cannot obtain a, well half baked in car view from a mod and is stuck with a few views.

From what I’ve seen and read, this is perhaps one of the biggest let downs from codemasters to date. Mike Singleton must be turning in his grave to see Grid the game he helped to create turned into this.. shame on you codemasters, shame on you..!!

To be fair, you could have just wrote ' I don't like Grid 2 ' and left all the useless opinionated waffle out of it.

I don't know what Forza/GT look like nor do I care, I play PC racing games and treat them on their own merits.

If people want to waste their time hating on a game that's also fine, all that matters is whether I like it or not.

All said and done, it's only a few quid for a new game and it's not as bad as Colonial Marines ;)

It amazes me how quick clever people out there mod a game. The game has barely been released and there is already an unblurred cockpit view camera mod.

Really is the PC Master Race.

Nope. The game is released in other regions. If you know about computers playing your official locked copy shouldn't be a problem.

just appears suspect that the 1st posts discussing gameplay appeared within hours of it being scene released, if that's not the case then I stand corrected.

Are you referring to me? Anyone on my Steam list can see I own the game.
