Nope. It's a common problem that only seems to be affecting Nvidia cards.

Enter "grid autosport black screen crash" on google and it seems a pretty common fault.

Real shame because the game is miles better than Grid 2.

Running the latest betas 340.43 which are supposed to have optimizations for Grid Autosport.

It's an ongoing problem (for me) with Codemasters introduced since Dirt 3 and x64.

Dirt 3 and Grid 2 I was able to bypass the bug by using DX9 and DX10 respectively, but that doesn't work with GA unfortunately.

What card and drivers are you running?
 
For some reason running the game on my rig through Windows 8.1 64bit causes the black screen freeze. Running it through Vista 64bit (I have 3 HDDs, one for each OS and one for games) the game runs smooth as silk, maxed out with zero problems. Was playing it last night for about 2 hours straight and it was fine.

So there must be something on my system and the way it is setup that causes it to go wrong with Windows 8.1, yet others on here have no problems.

I heard something about the location of the replay file - normally stored on C:\ - that can cause issues but can be changed but I'm not sure if this is related.

im on Windows 8.1 64bit.

got an MSI 780ti running the latest (stable) drivers.
 
Finding 5x standard race length a challenge, done 2x20lap at Yas Marinas International and 1x15lap at Mont Tremblant in my first season in the Formula C (the offer that prevents setup tweaks). Been a "simmer" for 8+ years, but sods law for the initial circuits to be ones I'm very unfamiliar with!

This preset setup Formula C is quite lively, I've experienced buckets of under- and over-steer at these first two events, if I enter corners with ambitious amounts of speed.

"Medium" graphics preset gives me as good as locked 60fps with v-sync on (rumoured to prevent some issues that others are experiencing), using a stock 7850OC with my ageing overclocked Q9300.

Edit: Just started Steam up and a ~281MB patch is downloading, still waiting on staff to enlighten users in Steam forum about patch release notes...

Well, happ(ier)y days. Forced DX10 again AND turned off smoke shadows, and I've run a mixture of SP and MP for a couple of hours without black screening!

So much better than Grid 2.
 
i like that open wheel challenge on racenet, thought id done well getting a 3.57, then saw no1 was 3.47 ish....

hmmm someone with a 3.41 now, must be a hacker

Yeah, some of the times on racenet are dodgy. Also, is it just me or are the times on the racenet site out of order? You've beaten my time there yet I'm showing above you under clubmates, you're down in 9th.

I see joelk2 has matched my time exactly on the street challenge!
 
Is there gonna be a way of arranging races with this racenet thing?

Hopefully there will be as I like the handling and setup of this game - but like many other racing games getting really frustrated at the min with the majority of racers 'ram first ask questions later' attitude.

Just got a few races in with katinacooker, joined him through RaceNet. Was doing alright and got my 1st win, only for the girlfriend to switch the pc off by accident! :rolleyes:

I was wondering where you went, i had to go sort out my mic as it kept flagging me as talking when it wasnt even plugged in. When i got back you's had just started a 7 min endurance, so i left, and when i checked to see where you'd gone you were offline =P
