Grid vs GT5 video

...especially not forza have you seen the braking its bizarre beyond belief the only sim racer that thinks you will lock wheels in an instant at 150MPH pathetic
Jeez, you must be bad at the game. I can quite happily drive around with no ABS at well over 150, brake quite happily for corners without locking.

Oh, wait, hang on, are you one of those digital people who don't understand analogue triggers? You pull the trigger all the way back its like you're slamming on the breaks as hard as you can. "Bizarrely" real cars work that way too (when they don't have ABS). Slam foot on peddle, wheels lock up. Forza simulates this quite well. Brake gently, car slows, wheels keep turning. Forza simulates this too. Whats bizarre and pathetic?

GT5p has a total different physics engine to the older GT's. If you have actually ever driven a car at speed or on track you would notice this lol.

Grid is bad really bad! it looks pretty and does pretty things.. But the handling is a joke.

First, calm yourself.

Second, we are not talking about pc games, this is the consoles section.

Third, can you run this by me again "im a fanboy of neither i just question how you can slate a racing game for being well the same what can they really do with it its a racing game and to say gt5 has not got improved physics over gt1 is just funny" ...

I express my opinion, if you dont like I really could not care less, you dont have to read it.

your opinion is crap though
how can you make a racing game different a sim racing game come on tell us what they can do different
you said it has not changed since ps1 which is downright lies why would anyone do that?

rubbish real cars do not lock up instantly at those speeds even with full brake pressure have you never driven a car? you can easily apply full braking force in a real car then ease of the brakes as you feel the tyres begin to lock forza does nothing to simulate this
go try a pc sim and see or better still try a real car
forza is a very good game let down by terrible graphics and some very funny physics at times and bland tracks

thought it was coming for GT5p in a future patch iirc???

there is as much sim in Forza2 as there is snow in the desert. Amuse's me how nit picking between games and formats always sets of the fanboys or makes them want to start posts like this, lol. Just play the dam games and enjoy then for what they are.

Looking at your typing I'll be surprised if your old enough to drive!!

Seriously, read what you write before you hit submit....

i think people should give forza 2 a decent try before knocking it.....the only downside to it is the lack of AA. clearly GT5P is also lacking AA but it isnt as noticeable.
personally i think forza 2 is a very very good stop gap until GT5 is released.

im not too fussed about visible crash damage in gt5p(yeah i know they sorting it) but performance should atleast be lowered.....also they need to rename normal tires to bike tires<<< normal tires in gt5p are a bit of a joke.

Desert with SNOW!

(Although I fully agree with that opinion :))

As for crashes Flatout series = winnar by technical knockout tbh :)

Seriously deformable cars that then still move unlike burnout which respawns you a toasty new car :(

LOL, making a statement about snow/desert/sim/Forza2 and then complaining about fanboys over reactionary comments must be the pot calling the kettle in anyones book ;)

Grid is just a game I can't get into, the handling is just too far from my usual haunts of LFS/rFactor/FM2 and I just struggle to get into the laws of physics bending world that is Grid..

Going from LFS to FM2 is relatively painless for me, I'd rate FM2 as a reasonable sim that just needs a few tweaks, going from LFS to GT5 is certainly more painful then FM2, it's missing plenty of inputs to it's physics engine that give it an instant sterility, however put some time in and GT5 is quite rewarding, it's certainly a notch up from PGR4 in that department, but PGR4 is not that type of game..

There's nothing better than a tongue in cheek youtube vid to bait insecure fan boys the world over.

Besides I really couldn't care less about Grid or GT5 either way, because Forza 2 is the best. ;)

I wanted to like GRID so much. Especially the touring cars. Fielding a grid of 20 cars, decent graphics and a decent damage model was great. Crucially the handling is god awful as is everything else regarding physics. Downshifts do bugger all for example. I have been really spoiled with Forza 2. It makes picking up any other racer really difficult.

Maybe i am looking at this with rose tinted goggles but Toca 2 was amazing. At least for it's time. Where have codemasters gone wrong

The video was ace though :)

It's all about braking control and tuning brake balance. Driving without abs is great in forza and works perfectly when you learn to use the controller trigger like a pedal.

No i have never tried slamming my brakes on at 150mph because my car has ABS, isn't stripped out to 900kg, isn't kitted out with some crazy 378mm ceramic disks, isn't pushing over 400hp, isn't using racing slicks, isn't using fully adjustable suspension and isn't using 300lbs of downforce. Then again you have driven all these "factory works" supertourers (which is what they basically represent when fully upgraded) in real life right? Braking at 150mph you just pump the brake pedal.....

Try something like the Saab 9-3 Aero. Drive it around stock. Can't fault it compared to the real thing.
