So the area grit depot happens to be in the village my mrs lives in. I'm taking her home from work and a grit lorry goes past and smashes me with stones which annoys me greatly.

I have a cup of tea and dinner, about an hour later I'm on the way home and the same grit lorry is returning to the depot and dispenses its lovely grit on me again! It's already done this rooooaaaaddddaaAAHAHHHHHHH

It did seem a bit slippy in an light coating of frost sort of way on the way home, perhaps its just going to be a cold night.

Ban gritters from our roads. I'd rather skid on ice off the tarmac into a hedge / ditch than have pristine paintwork tbh. :p

Giving a mate a lift home from work last night, I said to him before we set off "I hope the gritters aren't about". Second road we go down, there's the gritter at the end of it coming towards us, so I turned around and went the other way.

That was in a village, thankfully, no choice but to grit and bear it on the A/B roads. Unfortunatley I tend to finish work around the same time the gritters are doing their rounds.

i always atleast try and pull over, i'd love to know what the grit driver thinks..

i wonder if they get complaints, its not cool getting grit thrown over the car

My car has eleventy billion stone chips so I don't tend to worry about getting a grit shower. the rage that my gf gets into though is quite funny :p

I know the feeling. Got so many stone chips down the side of my car because of them.

I guess that they have been designed for maximum spreadage which results in the grit flying up your bonnet aswell instead of just across the road.

When I first got my 200SX I caught up to a gritter on dual carriageway, sod my paintwork - that grits pure drift dust, in my naievity I moved to the second lane in a sweeping motion round the corner and out came the back! , i nearly had to pull over for new underwear !

I've only ever driven past two grit lorries, one of them gave me the slowly growing rust bubble on my bonnet :o
