Ground Zero

RIP,

A pivotal moment that really did define the beginning of the 21st century and the world we are in today. At 36 I feel in a very unique position to have seen the analogue world change into the digital one, communism fall and globalisation really take hold. Hopefully I have at least another 36 year to see where all this takes us.

Historic times we are living in right now.

Went there in May this year, a really humbling spot of the city, and so hard to imagine that horror that happened there all those years ago.

RIP to all.

RIP to all those people, I remember the exact moment, I had just come home from my first few days at my first year at college at 16 just turning 17, my dad was staring at the screen and said to me this is going to change a lot of things,.

It was disbelief that it actually happened, it didnt actually sink in for a while the scale of the events as I watched it happen.

When I get my chance to visit New york, I will be paying my respects, in person, something I think all visitors should do at least once.

Reading those notes posted on the wall in the 9/1 museum from people looking for their families was so upsetting. Maybe it's because I'm a father myself but the notes from the kids to their parents tore me up. The museum was set out incredibly well, very tasteful but remained informative.

The world changed that day.

I'm going to new york tomorrow so may try and drop by again.

I remember getting home from school at about 3pm, which was 9-10am in NY and pretty much just as it was all going down. 13 year old me didn't really think much of it but with maturity I know what a catastrophe it was.

RIP to everyone. Especially the brave people on Flight 93 who managed to stop the terrorists from reaching a target, saving a lot more lives.

I think I must have watched every video and read every article on 9/11, it all just fascinates me, not in a sick way, just the whole event and the sheer magnitude to it.

RIP to all the victims and obviously their families where every anniversary must be a nightmare.

I never saw the Twin Towers unfortunately but have visited a few times since they went down. I remember the event unfolding when at College, I doubt I'll ever forget it.

Never forget turning on the tv that day... Jaw dropping to the ground, thinking OMG this is going to be WW3. Fortunately it didn't turn out that way...

What was particularly disgusting was all the Islamic support coming out of the woodwork... and the non-existent condemning .. Celebrating, cheering, burning of the US flags... All the hate preaching soon afterwards, all the conspiracy theories that the West did it to themselves because of the 'bigger Israeli plan'

Well the US had been meddling consistently for awhile before the event... i wonder how many of these celebrators were Iranian?

I remember that day almost like it was yesterday.

I was working as a programmer for a well known transport company.

My PC was the only one in the office that had a soundcard, so everyone was gathered around my desk watching it unfold.

Awful.

Its odd to think that now there is a whole new generation of teenagers to whom this is just history...
I was at home, looking at these forums actually and saw a post about 'sorry America' or something and expected to be a sarcastic post. Still didn't catch on properly until I turned on the TV. Think it was just before or after the seond plane hit.
It really was one of those unimaginable things that couldn't quite comprehend. Remeber going all cold and sick feeling.
I knew someone over there then too so also heard the perspective from there too.

I'd just turned up to a friends house not long after the first plane had hit and they had the live coverage up as the 2nd impacted and was just in stunned silence.

14 years......strange. Shall be out in October and have already planned to stop by the memorials.

wow, actually forgot it was today

I remember 9/11 well

I forget the exact time in the uk but i was young 16 and was a plumbers mate, a job had canceled and we stopped of at the local pub where the boss went in for a drink, he left me outside cleaning the van out.

He came out in amazement about what he saw on the tv and we ended up spending the afternoon in the pub getting fairly wasted watching the projector tv.

Its weird thinking back thats for sure

and RIP to all the souls lost :(
