‘Groundbreaking’ flights six-times faster than speed of sound one step closer..

Nope, the faster you travel across timezones the worse it would be.

I don’t think it’ll make much difference.

Assuming you don’t acclimate to the time difference on flight and when you get off you are in the new time zone. It would be like instant either way. It’s not like your body adjust in flight.

One can argue you can sleep on the flight so when you land, it’s morning. But what’s stopping you sleeping at home so you time it so when you get to the airport + flight = the right time in your destination?

Jetlag is jetlag, you're not escaping it no matter how hard you try, and trust me, I've tried! Vegas was the worst for us, followed by Sydney.

Oddly when we fly to Joburg it's non-existent despite the distance, that's the beauty of being one time zone apart!

think it's maybe like any sleep is better than no sleep? even tho you're not sleeping

at an extreme changing time zones instantly would be worse than changing over a month, the flight is a changezone :p

Imagine teleportation exists, you still get jet lag, but you can sleep in your own bed the night before to help mitigate it. So I don’t see the difference here between in your own bed or on the plane.

Personally I tend to land then stay up and go to bed first night super tired and if I get like 10hrs sleep then I’m fine the rest of the trip.

I can't get my head around that. I'm not being obstinate can you help me understand?

I tend to cope fairly well with it to be honest never really struggled much with it. But perhaps I'm just used to being tired! :D
My bad, my mental math got it wrong. Essentially, if your flight time matches the number of hours time difference your destination has, then you get no jetlag at all.

However, things start to get messy again if you can massively outpace it, like travelling 5 hours worth of timezones in an hour.

Ah amazing thank you. I was really trying to understand and thought I was being my usual thick self.

Actually I'm even more wrong, haha. It depends on direction.

Flying westwards for the same number of hours as the time difference, not jetlag.

Flying eastwards will still mess you up.

Leave Miami at 10am local (so already 3pm in the UK), fly for 5 hours. Now your circadian rhythm thinks it is 3pm as per Miami time, but it is 8pm in the UK, getting to sleep isn't going to be fun.
