Modern tech would ruin Group B as you would simply have 600bhp cars that could handle the power with ease rather than 600bhp rally cars that struggled. THAT was the appeal of Group B, power to counteract a lack of traction technologies seen in modern WRC cars and a noise and spectacle that no WRC machine gets close to. Spectacle has never been dependent on lap time or stage time in my eyes.

Agreed with Housey. Group B was never about timing, not for the spectators at least. It was raw, insane and unpredictable.

The only reason modern rally cars make 300hp max is due to the 34mm inlet restrictor than limits airflow and therefor peak power. Low down they make over 550lb/ft of torque and hold 300hp from 3000rpm to the redline!
