I dropped my new xbox elite off my stand

and after like 30secs of ingame play on call of duty it says the disc is unreadable

the disc as got like a half circle scratch on it.. its as if the xbox disc tray has done it as I have hardly touched the disc

Either take it to a dvd shop to repair the scratch or buy a new disc.

If you're in the UK then I believe Gamestation and Blockbuster will repair CD/DVDs though I don't know how much it costs.

When i worked in Game, they had a disc cleaning service for like £2-£3 or something. Could try at your local store, but i have no idea if it was just an extra thing the store i worked it had.

Was the game in the drive when you knocked over the 360? If not then i would check your DVD drive before putting in another game. Maybe use a blank? As you could have damaged the DVD drive and so you could be damaging the disks you're putting in.

what about if I go to blockbuster and rent cod.. then swap the games?

Try it and find out what happens

They know what copy they've given you and will charge you the full ammount to replace the game, which will be the prices they pay for them and not retail pricing.

Ring your local blockbusters and ask if they repair dvds.

Why don't you try installing the game to the 360 HDD? If you manage to do this, you're sorted as the 360 wont ever need to read the disc fully again.

That's what I do with all my games on my Elite.

Stick the disc in, install it, then you get slightly quicker loading times and a hell of a lot quieter 360!

On the other hand, if the 360 can't read the disc fully to install it, you'll have to do what people have suggested above.
