Fourty minutes ago some **** smashed up my mums car on the drive with a brick....my parents heard a smash and I came downstairs when I heard my dad swearing....

The roof is dented with brick dust in the dents, the door is dented and bent where its been yanked at, and the rear offside passenger window is smashed as well  I found the brick on the drive...missed my car somehow which was parked just in front of it....

Same thing happened to my sisters car about 3 years ago... :(

is this related to anything or just pure random violence?

This is what i was wondering.

Pure random violence used to be kicking off a wing mirror or snapping off an aerial, but putting a brick through someone's window?!

Don't touch the brick - wait for the police, perhaps there is forensic evidence on it?

sorry to see that regardless, hope you find the scum.

Generally I think its random vandalism (very very slim possibility of it being related to me :o), my area is generally 'okay' - but like I say 3 years ago my sisters 1 week old Pug 107 was given the exact same treatment!

Then a few months ago there was an attempted break in on my car and neighbours (a gang of drunk chavs wandering down the road trying the handles on every car in the street and attempted to screwdriver some...they were chased off by a neighbour with a bit of wood, and then followed by but escaped from the police).

Get the brick. Track down the perpetrator. "Introduce" he/she to the brick. :p

On a serious note though, that's shocking. I hope the person responsible is found so they can be given a slap on the wrists and a few hours community service.

My lass had the entire side of her car keyed before Christmas. From light to light. Nobody else in the street, just hers. She had some Christmas stickers in the windows and antlers on it at the time.

Reason why i wouldnt put anything in my windows what might offend the brain dead. Just as little as a town sticker could result in a smashed up vehicle like my mates was. He had a Chesterfield Spire sticker in his back window and parked it up at sheffield hallam uni... Come back the next morning and his car had been clearly smashed up with hammers and nitro morse all over it.

Probably about time you got some CCTV setup.

We are going to look into this! :)

Not really many gypsies around here, not in the immediate locality anyway....nor any enemies (that I know of or would consider significant!)

Similar thing happened to my brothers partners car. The one night she's ever stayed here, nobody knows her car etc and her rear window gets put in!

There was cars either side of hers and about 10 cars sitting out there. Just unlucky!

Another indication of the scum walking our streets, going most likely unpunished for random acts of vandalism. The people garrotting was invented for...

Has anyone got any recommendations or experience with CCTV kit? In particular the Swann or Storage Options setups...

I would want a two camera setup as a minimum with a DVR, and an easy way to view footage (either on PC or with an output to a TV setup).

(I am aware OcUK sells CCTV so do not want anyone to link to a competitor.....but it seems the Swann and Storage Options kits are the most often common 'entry level' kit between £200 and £300 for a system).

Same thing happened to my car a couple of years ago when I was living in a particularly rough neighbourhood. According to witnesses, the people who did this looked like they were about 6 years old.

Same sort of thing happened to my mum and step-dad a couple of years ago, I think it was a couple of months after my mum got her first brand new car, a VW Polo.

Not entirely sure what happened, but there was only one brick to be found outside the house. Whoever done it had either thrown the brick at the rear window of my step-dads Golf GTI that hard that it bounced off the window as it shattered and landed on the roof of my mums Polo before rolling off the car which left quite an unsightly dent and scrape in the roof.. or more than likely crawled through the smashed back window of the Golf and retrieved the brick for a second go. They have motion-sensors looking onto the driveway so if anyone had walked in after hitting the Polo first the motion-sensor would've come on.

If it was the latter why they didn't bother to also steal the things on display in the Golf as well is quite bizarre.

Then again the people from around here mostly have the IQ of a fish.

From the information given this appears to be a random act of vandalism.

Seriously worrying knowing that these types of scum walk our very streets, I'd like to meet them face to face on their own and see how they react to similar acts of crime to their property etc. However that would make me just as bad as they are.

We need a real life Bruce Wayne on our steets, or 50.
