Have you thought about reporting this? Whilst it might be an uncommon occurrence, there's a chance that you'll be saving others from being the victim of this kind of crime.

Give your local police station a call and see what they suggest. Did you happen to get a look at any of the thieves or see anything suspicious before the event? Anything you can remember might help you get your goats back.
