Gsync = Overhyped

Seen a lot of debate on various forums, should you have vsync enabled in nvcp and gsync too? On game I turn off vsync. I'm new to gsync so not that clued up tbh.

Some exceptions aside AFAIK if you have G-SYNC enabled it should ignore the V-SYNC option ingame - there are some games that do their own VWait stuff though that can cause issues. If you have application settings enabled for V-SYNC in the control panel though I'm not quite sure what happens - it probably starts to behave like the V-SYNC On/Off option in the nVidia control panel.

With old drivers you should have V-SYNC off but in the newer ones the V-SYNC options get hijacked once you enable G-SYNC and it works differently.

Well i've tried absolutely everything, and in every game i get stutter, before i never had a problem at 60fps on most games, only GTA used to stutter when dropping below 60.

Starting to admit defeat and will probably be returning the monitor.

My last port of call is to reinstall windows, and start from scratch, in hope that some how it makes it work......... i doubt it will though.

My framerates on games are

H1Z1 - Between 70-110

GTA V - Between 60-85

Rainbow Six Seige - Between 90-120

But i get stuttering on all 3 when frames drop, even tiny frame drops.

On the phone guys so hard to multi quote. I can track fps either via rivatuner in afterburner. Or bf game cfg files. I play a lot of bf3/4. I'm do used to limiting fps as an ex sli 780 owner. Temp issues on my old 4790k setup. Only moved to gsync lately with this new cpu, mobo and ram. And a gpu I only used for a few hours on Z87. But, gsync works, and reccomend it. If your an AMD owner and freesync does the same thing, again do it. Enjoy tear free, input lag free gaming.

Think i've managed to fix it. Limited frames in RivaTuner set Vsync on in NCP and set Gsync on.

Played around 20mins in GTA with no stutters.

I'm on 359.06 at the moment. Is there a better driver for Gsync? I don't want to have to install X amount to find one that works, or i could be here all night :D

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3798 << slightly older hotfix driver with specific fixes for G-SYNC performance issues - shouldn't be needed if you have newer drivers but its not impossible the original issue has reared its head in later drivers on some setups.

http://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3812 << latest hotfix for the current drivers - for notebooks specifically but has some general performance fixes as well related to specific setups.

So it wasnt gsync that sucked.. It was u that sucked? Now go wash your mouth out...

Don't be such a jerk.

Why should he have known that he had to jump through hoops instead of just being able to buy a gsync monitor, enable it and play?

If it was so simple, this thread wouldn't be on the second page.

Well i received my first gsync monitor last week acer x34.. It took me 2 mins to get gsync enabled...

Like most peoples problems on this forum its 99% user error... They try and blame everything else before they even think it might be them thats the problem..

I agree that most issues are user related.

In this case though, you're probably into things enough to have looked into all the ins and outs before you got started.
Setting frame caps and using whatever combination of vsync etc probably doesn't occur to most who expect to buy a monitor, enable gysnc and play.

Either way, telling the guy he sucks is totally unnecessary. This isn't a youtube comments thread.

Would never be without G-sync, if you have tearing or stuttering over 40fps your doing it wrong.

In the NV control panel under view I think it is at the top if you enable show g-sync logo when you boot a game it'll show you if your using gsync.
