** GT REPLACEMENT - Watercooling Optimised Fan **

How would these compare to the Fans that come with the Antec 100, or that came with the OCUK special AIO H2FLO kits a few years back.
I have a few fans starting to reach the end of thier life and am wondering about a wholesale replacement of the lot.

I have a few fans starting to reach the end of thier life and am wondering about a wholesale replacement of the lot.

I picked up 4 of these fans the other day and they shift a lot of air. They're not silent, but for the amount of air they shift they are really quiet. Great price too.

I can see them being a well worth while upgrade from the Antec and H2Flow fans for you.

Ok I bought 3. These will be used for 1 on my H90 and 2 on my 295X2. I hope they're good!

Just paniced a bit as I have no idea how to remove the fan from the 295X2 is it easy with no dis-assembly?

A the radiator fans? They're just the same as replacing other fans, but you'll need to align the radiator up and make sure not to drop the rad while removing it.

If you mean the one on the card itself, that's not removable/changeable.

Not the card one the radiator one that is on a long wire to the card. I worry it isn't removable without tools?

You can replace the radiator fans easily. The cable from the card is an extension that you can plug your own fans into. Can't remember if it's PWM though, might have to cut one side to make room for the 4th pin if not. Or you can just plug them into a motherboard fan header instead.

Hi Guys

So Silverstone have come back to me this morning with pricing quotes for my new 'rjkoneill designed SST-FQ121WC'

this fan is being built to my exact spec :D

Silverstone have been working around the clock to get this built for me.

I should have my samples early next month.

the fan will probably be a little more expensive than the standard FQ121 as they are being made in much smaller quantities, but will have the added advantage of a better spec.

I wont give too much away but it is essentially the following:

- SST-FQ121 Frame and Blade design
- No sticker on the front of the fan.
- Colour Black Blades / Black Frame
- Same Bearing as SST-FQ121
- No PWM
- 3 Pin Connector in black.

The lack of PWM means it is ideal for watercooling enthusiasts looking to run their system on a fan control unit. This will be perfect for users running low FPI radiators and Smart controllers like the Aquaero as the noise level and speed will be able to be tuned.

Given the performance I have seen from the standard FQ121 run in 3 pin configuration and used on a fan controller, it showed promising performance even at low fan speeds.

I will try and keep you all updated on the development of this fan.

In the meantime, we have plenty of FQ121 on order with Silverstone and they are due to land late this week. We have cleared out all of their stock in europe so hopefully they will have some more available soon.

Most of us seem to consider the Piranha to be a pretty good rad/heastink fan and it operates at the same kind of RPM range as the GT1850/SST-FQ121.

Might as well bung it in the test to clear up the situation :)

Sounds good, I need 4 more fans.....
If the price & performance sound good i'm in :D

I am aiming to get it sub £10 per fan.

i dont. use a SP fan compared to this and its night and day.

the pirhana is good for heatsinks but being good for HSF use and being good for low FPI rads are two different things.
