I wonder just how those ceramic brakes on the Porka are to live with day to day. Awesome stopping power on track is one thing but getting to the roundabout at the end of the road with a vague brake pedal because you haven't got enough heat in them might wear thin.
This is an open question rather than a statement as I have no idea how they perform when cold compared to standard discs.
I have driven a 911 at MIRA on Ceramics and was very impressed with them. They are actually no better at stopping the car in distance terms but they have a consistency that the steels don't and a feel to how they work that I really liked. They gave an impression of sharpness every time you pressed the pedal that the steels can loose after heavy use and this, together with their weight is where the savings are really made.
The big problem with them however are stones! Get a stone stuck in a brake and it can ruin them, and as this can be an issue on track days is the main reason people swap them out if they are going to do a load of track work, which I think defeats the object somewhat.
