GT5 demo December 17 !!!!!

But, the thing is, it looks even weirder than other racing games i've played. It just looks so flat and almost as if he's sideways around every corner. If he is sideways, where's the tyre smoke =/

The corner at 1:03 to 1:08 is an example of what I mean, it just looks odd to me.

HUUEUEHEUEUHEEUHEHEUEHHEEHEUEHEHERERRRRRRRRRRR

Wow, What it is with GT and that GODAWFUL CONTANT TYRE SCREECH. That, and the steering which seems like it hits full lock instantly.

Yes it looks and sounds odd to me too.

Why are people calling this a demo?

Because it is a demo of sorts?

Anyway the proof of the pudding will be in playing it. I cannot wait for the final release. But Dup is right, the constant tyre screeching really needs to be addressed, it's lame and any car i've ever driven it's tyres aren't pushed to the limits of it's grip in during cornering.

Another video? Go on then :D

This time we are shown part of the 'Ring in the new Lexus IS-F. Sense of speed is nice :)

Can anyone tell what wheel Yamauchi is using here? Looks like the cheapy Logitech one?

Edit:

An interesting snippet from the GTPlanet article:

I’ve included the other clips below -- they’re fun to watch, but I found one tiny revelation particularly interesting: PolyphonyDigital has actually expanded to a second studio down the street from their headquarters, which is completely dedicated to writing the online code for the game. Considering how important this functionality will be, that’s very encouraging news. Thanks to everyone who sent this in!

I know what you mean, thought it was joke footage to begin with, looks well dodgy! :/

Is the demo some "arcade" mode or did they just not bother implementing a physics engine? :p

While that video does look a bit iffy, the prologue handling is spot on IMO, so I doubt it's going to be an issue.

Have to disagree with that point, compared to the handling in Forza 2 and 3; the handling in Prologue is laughable!

I love the F430 and spent quite some time getting it unlocked on Prologue, only to be completely disappointed at the first corner I hit in it – the thing handles like an under-steering FWD car, not the lovely high precision RWD beast it actually is and I think the all RWD cars felt the same.

If you’ve had a chance to play Forza and enjoy racing games, I don’t think there’s any way you would agree that Prologue is good, sure it looks amazing, but that’s all it had going for it, and unless the demo proves otherwise, GT5 is a sure fire miss from my PS3 collection.

This is always going to be an ongoing battle of a debate but I have to agree with both of you. Some cars drive better in Prologue and others better in Forza imho.

I don't think that prologue is better than forza 2 in any way and forza 3 is lightyears ahead of prologue

The only thing better is the 1080P graphics.

IMO of course. (I own both before the fan not accusations start!)

You'd be mad to dismiss GT5..

FM3 is great, the handling 'nuance' when on the limit is the best I've experienced on a console, the physics on a technical level are superb.
However, FM3 falls down in that some grip levels aren't correct etc for the car, so compared to real life, some cars aren't quite as expected, but at least if you ignore this, the experience is top notch.
GT5P on the other hand is less sophisticated in the physics department IMO, but they did get the grip levels right most of the time etc, so it made for a still entertaining experience that was close enough to real life to not worry. It's main let down for me was the physics don't react to the 'nuances' of control, with weight transfer when coming off the brakes back on the accelerator, the transitions where a bit dumbed down, making it far too predictable and dare I say too consistent.
By the looks of things, GT5 so far seem to have mixed things up, I'm sure it'll have the correct grip levels and differential behaviour for all cars, and it'll just need a few more things being computed in the physics equation and I think it'll be very convincing..

First video is using the controller FAIL. That's why handling looks naf. Wouldn't be GT without annoying constant tyre screeching noise and no smoke now would it?

What have they been doing all this time!?!
