GTA 5 SLI

I've seen reports elsewhere regarding SLI, that although great all round performance, there is stuttering when panning the camera round for example.

This is the type of thing I'm on about, and sadly it affects quite a lot of games. A lot of people don't notice, or aren't too bothered by it, but it's become a bit of a thing for me.

Having a gsync monitor actually makes it worse, because the issue is even more noticeable as it's so smooth in between the little judders that happen on camera pans. It's also often more apparent when using a 360 controller rather than mouse, but for this game controller would be a must for me.

Guess the only way I'll really know will be to buy it and try it. But then if it stutters I'll be well annoyed. gaaaaaah

Amazing what can happen when all parties spend more time on just making a game work no pun intended rather than trying to see how much they can shaft the other company like many of the Gameworks titles. Companies like Ubisoft being paid off time and time again is not good for gamers apparently.

It was so refreshing to see R* state they are not trying to sell AMD or NVIDIA hardware.

“As we have said before, we are not in the business of making or selling hardware – we want everyone to be able to experience the games we make.”

It's a shame this sort of attitude is an exception not the rule.

What gameworks title shafts the 'other company' ?

Think it's worth buying for PC? I already have it for PS4 on a nice Sony TV, but have hardly touched it.

I'm mainly a PC gamer/ tinkerer. I might actually play the game, if it runs well. Just worried about SLI stutter as mentioned above (780Ti SLI here).

Maxed out at 1440p it looks way better than the PS4. Also runs a lot smoother for me.

Aren't you on single Titan X bud? I was (sent it back though) and now back on 780Ti SLI.
Not sure I can be razzed with yet another game that might have microstutter with SLI.

On one hand its great, and im glad it works perfectly with awesome performance. But on the other hand its kinda bad we all get excited and praise them for something that should be standard across all gaming companies.

It's true. CD Project and Rockstar have handled the dev of their games the right way. However in this industry money comes first.

They have schedules which they must keep too and this is usually at the cost of quality. Looks at ubisoft....

This bodes well for The Witcher 3.

However with the shear size of GTAV could you imagine what would have happened had they not delayed it polish it?!

Yeah I am. Can't comment on SLI was just pointing out it looks better than the PS4.

Yeah it would have been GTAIV all over again.

I rushed down to my local store to buy GTAIV at launch as I did not have the internet (I was borrowing it from some one who did not have their router secure but the signal was terrible).

So I rushed out and bought it only to find it was the worst PC game I'd ever played in terms of quality. It stuttered, it was horrible to look at and was never really fixed. I remember trying it on my GTX 480s in SLI only to find it still stuttered like a pig.

Good PC games take years to make. It's only really Valve who make sure that they have done everything that is humanly possible to ensure their games run properly before releasing them. Every one else just releases a broken game then fixes it after the fact.

Even Fallout 3, which IMO is the best game ever was an absolute dog. Sound stutter, crashing on more than two cores.. Nightmare ! It took them about a year to get it all fixed up. Until then it would crash and I would lose my save games. One of the releases corrupted save games !

New Vegas was the same. The companion bug caused every one on consoles to lose 13 or more hours of play because the patch would not work with the original save games.

So this stuff is not even limited to the PC.

What people are saying here is bob on. Companies should take their time and delay as much as they have to and release games that speak for them, rather than releasing a ton of crap and making your gamers hate you.

IMO? I ain't about to pat R* on the back for releasing a game that works as it should. Especially given their last one was a honking pile of rubbish.

Sli is butterly smooth with Gsync.

getting 97% on both cards most of the time when it does drop to say 75% their both giving same %

ive found changing some settings gives less % utilisation but no extra frames.

but im very happy with the port

The texture work is really very good on ps4 actually. Don't forget ps4 has lots of VRAM, and big old install sizes too.

Can the PS4 do 4k? or is it limited to 1080p?

Aye just 1080-30, it does wonders with what it has to work with though. iirc its ~50GB on the PS4 too, perhaps 55GB now after the recent heists update.

I must say though, GTA Online on the PC is an infinite amount better then the PS4, match making, loading times etc... is on a complete other level.

I'll try get some comparative IQ pics from the PS4 when I get chance.

Looking at those screenies above, that doesn't look any better than the ps4 version in terms of textures, at first glance to me.

Of course the pc version has better (higher) resolution options, and a much higher framerate, which for a mostly pc gamer like myself is all good stuff. I'd be interested to know what other improvements the PC version has too. Is it things like draw distance, amount of cars/ pedestrians?
