GTA IV: <Out of video memory> error after upgrading GFX card from HD5850 to HD7870. Please help :(

Yea tell me about it Im nervous about GTA V. I hope R* took all the criticism of GTA IV to heart and are making sure its not repeated in V.

There will be an even bigger uproar if GTA V is a jaggy mess on mighty gaming PCs with honking cards in them.

I think IV was a brand new engine that really didn't agree with PC operating systems, not sure but I think V is on a brand new engine too. Max Payne 3 was on the GTA IV engine but it was very heavily overhauled, so even if it is on the IV engine it could still work. I don't mind dropping settings for modern top level games, but I'm gonna have to drop a lot of settings to run IV in 1080p, which is unacceptable for a 2007 title really. So long as V is about on par with other 2013 titles as far as performance goes, I'll be happy.
