I think they just need the time and resources to get the xone and ps4 out by Christmas.
Something had to give and unfortunately the pc is the obvious something.
If Rockstar could get it out on pc for Christmas, they would, it would sell more.
Ultimately though we will have the definitive version.

I don't understand why they aren't trying to win over PC gamers and earn their business.

Leaving an entire gaming platform as an after-thought has undoubtedly put a lot of people off buying this game. Surely rational thinking would have them trying their absolute hardest to take advantage of that huge player base- not alienate them until the last second.

Major companies have left the PC out of their focus and went for consoles. Players got used to that, content itself is build with that in mind, ergo no wonder those little machines are preferred versus PC. If you read around this forums, you'll see members playing the console version of some games because it "feels" better.

Also, 711 million gaming PC and so little sale of games. That says a few things:

-most of them play MMOs, FTP, browser games, low requirements games;
-piracy;
-although gaming capable, those PC are not used with such intent.

Bottom line: until major companies put the focus back on promoting PC gaming back to its "glory days", the situation won't shift easy from this status quo.
 
I am chuffed to bits to hear the news about a PC version but it is a smack in the face to PC gamers, not only to be left in the dark for so long but also to have to wait 2 months for the kids to get their fill at Xmas.

I wouldn't put it past Kock$tar to sellout to the power of Microsoft and Sony to release it late or even not at all for some more $$$$.

I hate everything but conspiracy theories

They didn't say it was coming out for Xbone or PS4 though either. It's the same with any company regardless of the sector, they will release the information when they are ready to.

According to Intel there are 711m PC gamers in the world today.

Farmville doesn't count. Console sales will generate Rockstar a lot more than PC sales.

I think you hit the nail on the head with regards to a payed exclusive so consoles out first then PC.

I'm not wearing a tin foil hat saying piracy is to blame for the delay, that's just ridiculous but you make a good point. Give it a year or so and these next gen consoles will be able to play pirate games like their predecessors.

Just because piracy is easier on the PC platform doesn't mean that consoles are infallible. If people can't wait 2 months for a PC release and are willing to buy a next gen console to feed their gaming addiction then maybe that's why the PC is delayed.

Similar things happen when one console get DLC or a release a few weeks before everyone else. Gamers froth from their mouths and buy a new console just for that privilege.

Rubbish, they have plenty of resources and time, it's all in the R* strategy to make as much money as possible.

Here we go, Release 1 for the babies(ps3/xbox360) Keeeerching

Release 2 next gen for the girls (ps4/xboxone) Keeerching

Release 3 Master race the top boys(PC) keerching ish

I can't really see a triple dip unless they are saving the best version until last which i doubt, they will hold back the pc version(graphic wise) that's for sure to make the next gen console version stand out to make more money, game developers are so shady these days.

Rockstar mods are being pathetic on the boards, whenever someone asks a valid question about wanting some truth about the game it gets deleted.

I expect the game to look just as good as the next gen consoles if not better! However, I am expecting it to be a rubbish port and have loads of bugs and performance issues + having to wait a month or more for a patch to fix the issues, just like what happened with GTA 4 on the PC.

Every developer/publisher know that you should always release games around/before xmas, guaranteed to get way more sales so the only logical reason I can think of as to why PC is delayed is because Sony and Microsoft have paid Rockstar to do so and that way more next gen consoles are sold for xmas, as simple as that or maybe the PC version is just seriously broken......

edit:

still... I'm sure once the game is out and working to an appropriate standard for the PC master race (:p), it will be one of the best games ever :D

Or maybe it has something to do with that they sell the PS4/XB1 versions for around £60 and want as many people as possible to buy it at this price..;)

I think your just being childish. Stop sulking.
It will come out on pc eventually and it will be the best version (probably not by much as the ps4/xone versions will probably be quite good).
You really believe they would miss the Christmas sales just to catch a hand full of double/triple dippers?
I doubt it very much.
If that is what you really believe, then use all your worldly power to get your message through to them and vote with your wallet and don't double/triple dip.
 
I already have the 360 version so will be a double dipper when it finally hits the PC but will be expecting a lot due to this ignorance from Kock$tar, Why no mention of a PC version, why leave us in the dark, people will be pirating on the "next gen" consoles soon enough.

So annoyed I have to wait till January 27th and if it is a port with errors like GTA 4 then I'm going on holiday with Malaysia Airlines.
