GTA V

Tbh I'm thinking nowadays it might be best not to have it on steam as I tried something the other day after reading on how to avoid stutter etc and saw that making a short cut of the launcher from the dir of GTA 4 or eflc and use command line.text file in the dir and launch it through the short cut and bypass steam and it is far far smoother to play. Steam causes fps issues defo imo. It was like that with startrek online. Use sto with steam and microstutter but without steam it was far smoother. Also tearing is better too somehow.

I know I'd prefer to play gtav without launching through steam.

You can use the Launch Commands option in steam to remove that stuttering also, and to remove screen tearing etc, theres a big list on the GTA forums of commands you can use to set the game up.

Nope you have to use command line.text as you arnt launching from steam anymore cos of the shortcut. Avoiding steam is the key to avoid frame skipping/stutter. Tho tbh I haven't tried without using commands yet but I do know.

Commands with steam - micro stutter
Commands without steam to launch the game - butter smooth.

For me.

I really don't mind the £40 price tag on steam. Given that I felt the PS3 version was worth £35 for 25fps 720p, 10x10 textures and an arm's length draw distance, a half decent PC port will easily be worth £40.

STILL NOT PREORDERING THOUGH

For all those that are wanting to try Max Payne 3, it's really easy to find a key for around £5.

Play it whilst you wait for port reports :)

well then don't pre-order.

lol?

I've never noticed any difference between steam versions and non steam versions in terms of performance.

Vanilla with steam - game runs like butts
Commands with steam - game runs like butts
Commands without steam - game runs like butts
ENB with steam - game runs like butts though it looks good.

With the right commands the game runs smooth steam or non steam for me.

Only difference is without steam i have to put the commands into a text file rather than launch options.

I guess it depends on the PC though.

Definitely getting this on PC as I absolutely loved it on 360, but certainly won't be preordering it. If the port is anything like GTA 4 I will be very unhappy...

GTA SA on Steam?

These guys are so tight.
They are definitely pushing sales from their own store (your choice from quite a few decent games), which you can't blame them for really. More and more companies especially the bigger ones don't seem to appreciate Steam's take of their money.

Why defend them? Their taking the absolute **** about the whole PC release. It's an after thought to R*.

I actually asked family to pre order via steam for me for my birthday. But now I'd rather pick up a key from a key site at a fraction of the price due to their **** attitude towards PC gamers.

I don't think it's been an afterthought and I suspect a lot of people will be surprised at how much work has gone into the port this time.

Time will tell, personally I'm in no rush to play it but will probably buy on steam due to the £35 credit I have since selling steam items.

Really want to play this, but not for £40 on release... I'm sure it'll be a good game and for that I was going to waive my usual rules of "wait a few years and pick it up for £3" and maybe stretch to, I dunno ~£10 - £15... maybe even £20... but £40? No thanks

I couldnt really play gta4 on release, when I got i7 it did work eventually.
Not sure if they'll repeat that, my guess is no it will scale for everyone but I'll wait also

The game has somewhere between 30-100 hours of gameplay depending on how many side missions you do.

You grudge potentially paying less than 50p per hours worth of entertainment?

It always surprises me when people complain about the price when I bet the majority of you have at least £40 worth of steam games in your library you've never/hardly played :p
