GTA V

Just figured that ordering GTA V through greenmangaming gives me the most value @ £30.90, moreso than getting it through work with my discount because; it would include $300K more for the online, which is worth around a fiver itself; it includes a Steam copy of San Andreas too.

Just a heads-up for anyone interested, I used a 23% off promo they're running at the moment which was delivered to my e-mail but when visiting the website it did promt me to collect a 23% off code anyway. So, the offer should be open to all.

So, does the actual GTA V code activate on steam?

It should say on the site you're purchasing it from. I pre-ordered on steam after selling more of my junk cards so the game cost me under a tenner.

Played San Andreas last night, took me back lol

Alright I caved, £30.80 via GMG, shame they don't let you also apply GMG credit once a voucher code is applied as it could have been £22!

So does the GMG Code bypass Steam?

I haven't had a chance to fully read the key site stuff. So you don't need to Activate it on steam etc? It is all done via the R*SC.

you download the R* jobby and activate it through that.

you can add non steam games to steam though.

Ah cool, so what happens with the Steam Key version, you have to sort it out on steam and then on R*SC also?

Seems it would be easier to just bypass steam altogether then.

What? I thought it was a Steam game? Don't really want yet *another* Steam/Origin/Uplay/Capsule/Battle.net clone...

going through steam is your only option then.

(can anyone confirm if it still uses the R* jobby)

i know some games you can buy from steam. (trials evolution) which still requires the Uplay as it opens that up anyway.

rockstar games on steam still use the rockstar socialclub stuff, yes :)

I went for the uncut steam version. £10 more but i cant be arsed with yet another client to keep track of. All my other GTA games are on steam anyway.

Install in steam, log in to rockstar when the game opens.

Quite torn on whether to get this from R* direct or through Steam. Am I correct in thinking if I get it from R* I won't be able to play with my friends on Steam? Or can I get around it by adding it as a 'non Steam game'?

Would there be any real advantage NOT getting through Steam? I've heard some people have performance drops with regards to the Steam overlay etc.

I'm going to order it through steam, it maybe more expensive. But after the hassle of downloading 32GB for FC4 on Uplay a few weeks ago, with their crap servers disconnecting while down loading all the time and then having to verify the files after downloading and having to download another 1.5GB to fix corrupt files.

I'll go the safe route and buy from Steam, as I have no idea how good R* are with downloads and I like steam auto updating my games to.

Not that I have any problems with Origin either, it's just after my Uplay experience a few weeks ago. I'm going to stick to those I have no problems downloading from, especially when it's 65GB and my connection speed is about 6MB.

Seems a lot of people would rather pay the £40 via Steam for the ease of use.

Do the Steam keys get released for pre-load first or is it just bc people would rather use the Steam interface for games?
