I cant say for sure but just tried max payne 3 with no internet connection because it uses rockstar social club in-game to and it works fine.

As the game loads up it it just pops up and says "Finners Signed in (Offline)" and I can continue my game as normal.

So hopefully GTA V will be the same.

And in regards to the internet situation, what everyone else said is true. Most people would like and would pay for faster internet but it all depends on availability.

Where my mum lives in northern Ireland, she is in tyr middle of the countryside so the max connection she can get is 25mbps from what I can remember.

I mean there's even places in Edinburgh that virgin don't cover yet!!! Crazy.

Gigabit is moving forward at a good pace though(imo anyway) Aberdeen has it, Edinburgh is next so hopefully the rest will follow suit.

Yea, only Steam will give you a Steam key, which will allow you to download off Steam because you want to use Steam. Just buy off Steam, pre-load off Steam, and tomorrow night Steam should be good to go!

I just hate having to download from all different places and have more accounts etc, steam does make life easy, i done a reinstall the other day and steam backed my entire game library onto my server and then pulled it back in 20 mins after i reinstalled windows with save games the lot. Just makes for ease imo.
 
The game (should be) released tomorrow night, and from what many previous posts have been about, the Rockstar servers are being hammered so it might take you awhile to actually download the game, where with Steam you could download pretty quickly and join us in the hype tomorrow night :D

I would go with Steam if you're willing to pay the extra amount and cannot wait
 
Don't know which thread to post in now, but I've requested to join the OcUK PC Crew - same username as here.

I'm keeping my fingers (and toes) crossed that I get the retail version delivered on Tuesday, not expecting a delivery tomorrow at all.

I'll only be able to play it for a few hours during over the week (and weekend!) though which is agonising.

same here 40 meg sky fibre, was getting less than 100kb at times to, but I sorted that out by deleting the duplicate files...

dunno if you ve noticed a drop in ping with sky, I was getting 4-5ms now its like 14-16ms!! very annoyed at this, i dont even mind if they dropped the d/l speed a bit, but the ping is more important for me.
 
I just did a clean OS install with GTA V installed on another drive. Can confirm that after OS re-install the launcher just downloaded a 50 MB file and is now ready. No need to re-download big files again.
