GTA V

This site has GTAV for pre order for PC. Isn't that confirmation that it's coming out for the platform?

Retailers 99% of the time put a guess of when they think it maybe out, i know this because a lot of developers on forums say this. So take retailers dates with a pinch of salt and only trust dates that are officially released by publishers.

Things have moved on since GTA4, that was a poorly coded game at launch and remained so even post patching.

At least if/when it comes out i have a decent rig to play it this time. If i remember right i had an 8800GTX when IV released and it wouldn't even let me turn all the settings up due to my VRAM being too low, not that it ran very well at lower settings anyway :p

Yeah, play it :p

And then read back on the reports from users on mutliple system specs.

I started playing GTA4 on a GTX460 OC and today even on a GTX570 SSC it's still running 30fps in most places. Even Crysis runs better on max settings!

How is that proof? Doubt it'll be on PC anyway. ****star are notorious for ****ing us over, have done for years and years.

If visual in your face evidence isn't proof then what is?

It even runs poorly (low framerates) on the consoles.

Do we need to break out pie charts and bar graphs now?

Visual in your face evidence? So it's on PC and they've 'moved on from IV' and it isn't gonna run poorly this time?

You got all that from a trailer? Alright then. Have you been to Amsterdam recently?

Max Payne, running on the very same RAGE engine, was very well optimised for PC and ran great. GTA4 was their first game with that engine, they've now had 4 or so years working, refining and learning more about it.

Max Payne and GTA are incomparable though, Max Payne is a very consolized, ugly game set in a linear, closed world with very few moving parts. GTA V is gonna have tons of civilians, all with individual A.I, tons of cars, planes, animals, huge distances to render, lots of calculations to make on civilian behavior alone that'll probably cripple the engine. If GTA IV had been played out as Max Payne 3 was, that would have ran well too. Besides, there are many, many much better optimized games out there than Max Payne 3, it doesn't even have SSAO or anything at all strenious to cope with. :p

Considering they make the bulk of their profits from the console market and end up having to put up with endless bitching from us guys, it's hardly surprising ;)

Not excusable though.

I think you've seriously misread/misunderstood something here.

I'm not saying GTA5 is going to run poorly, I'm saying things have changed since the poor effort in GTA4 and the poor showing for PC gamers from R*, GTA5 will most likely not run poorly at all on any platform given what we've seen and been told.

So what should we do if we experienced problems with GTA4? should we keep quiet and hope for the best?

As soon as we highlight a valid defect on a game, does that equal to us moaning?

To be fair, all we have seen are cutscene set piece trailers and have been told nothing about the pc version :(

What have we been told? Can't find anything about performance and there being a PC version as yet.

To be honest its a bit of a joke, As they need a computer to actually create the game in the first place, so it should be far easier, and quicker to release the PC version than for the consoles. :(
