GTA V

My friend has been hyped about this game for ages and got it as soon as he could for ps3, and promptly told me that the gfx were quite bad due to no AA and apparently lot of fog to reduce draw distance.

He still loves the game and is a console gamer but himself told me the gfx werent as good as the videos led to believe. So either its just the ps3 version or the graphics really just arent that impressive.

The PS3 version has a slightly better advantage in the graphics department according to the Digital Foundry, so I don't think it's that. Personally I think the game looks fantastic, I've sat in awe over the visuals several times thinking of the hardware this is running on.

I don't think anyone is complaining. Its just that some of us are waiting for the PC release and refusing to play the console version, but for some reason certain people take offence at that.

GTA4 on the 360 was laughably bad compared to the PC version, draw distance was terrible (never tried the PS3 version), fps dropped regularly

GTA5 on my PS3 feels 'acceptiable' to the point that it doesn't harm gameplay. I'll still get it for PC when it's released though.

It's nice to have high frame rates, resolution, settings etc, but I'd always go for art direction and gameplay first. The Last of Us impressed me more than anything I've played on the PC in recent years and, despite the lacking hardware, looked stunning. The same was true of Bayonetta, Mario Galaxy, and a bunch of other games. It does make me question the silly money I spend on keeping an up-to-date gaming rig tbh - 5 minutes into a game and you're either absorbed or not, and what keeps you absorbed isn't the resolution and level of texture detail.

I have GTA 4 on all platforms. The best from the 360 vs PS3 argument, is definitely the 360 version. The PS3 looked like it had smeared vaseline everywhere. But I think it's safe to say both versions had problems, and while the PC version was the best looking of the lot, it wasn't without its problems as well.

I am hoping this time round rockstar will have a better port for the PC, since the PS4 architecture is supposed to be similar, or so I hear.

I'm holding off 360 and PS3 versions. I want my experience to be smooth, with great graphics, and just feel that I am not going to get that with either 360 or PS3 versions.

A friend of mine got it yesterday for the PS3 and I can say, it looked absolutely terrible.
He was playing on 720p mind you but even so, the framerate was horrendous. Looked about 20FPS.
Im truely hoping that thisll get released on PC. No way in hell would i touch it on a console after seeing him attempting to play it.
Or is it that us PC gamers and too accustomed to the 60/120FPS?

What screen? Sounds like **** quality display :/
As I said, it looks stunning and fps is perfectly fine. I am a PC gamer and am used to over 60FPS at 1440P in almost all games and have no issues with PS3 GTA5. It's not graphically perfect (no AA) but it's damned good.

Well i cant really comment on the display. Not mine and I know nothing about it but ill ask him what he thinks of it when he plays on the 1080p display he has. Was occupied at the time and he couldnt wait.

Maybe it could have been the PS3 as well. Since im seeing the game look beautifully smooth being played on the Xbox from YouTube

It may well be fairly decent and seem perfectly fine, but it will more than likely be even better on the PC/PS4, and think a few of us don't want to double dip with buying the PS3/360 versions first (I made that mistake when GTA 4 came out and not doing it again).

Tbh you're fooling yourself if you think 16fps is even somewhat acceptable. Even 30 is poor really. Stop making excuses for the ancient hardware the game is running on. Just look at the game on the consoles, from a PC gaming perspective it looks like a dogs dinner.

30fps is perfectly fine for anything that is not fps/racing sim

saw my stepson playing it yesterday on xbox360 and though it looked pretty rough to be honest.

it always seems to me like console games have some weird zoomed in fov though

Oh indeed the PC/Next gen versions will be graphically sharper and with AA that's all that's needed really. No jaggies and longer viewing distances makes a hell of a difference and add in a bit of 16x AF to keep those sharp textures sharp from all angles but given the current gen in question and when they came out, GTA5 is a work of wonder.

He probably pressed select which changes the view? :p

I wont lie. I cant tolerate 30FPS. I rather not play the game at all if that was the max it could go. I can make do with 40 but 50+ is for when I really want to enjoy games.

To be honest, this whole argument of what FPS people have to play on is pointless. I know some people who played through Sleeping dogs on their laptops at 12FPS and they were fine with it. So I completely understand if people can play on FPS lower than 30 etc.

Now I only have 1080p on my monitor, but just imagine playing it at 1440p on your setup... It's going to look amazing!

That's why I'll get it on PC too and why I am trying to do as few main story missions as possible and spend time getting to know the game world and everything else so when I do get it on PC I'll be familiar!

One thing I loved about GTA4 was I could game with mouse/keyboard but during car driving segments pick up the 360 pad and it just works. I suppose most games are like this anyway though.

My money is before the new consoles launch, Just after they have sold as many PS3 and Xbox 360 versions as possible they will announce the next gen and Pc versions of the game.

It's a bit obvious tbh. It would not surprise me if this became a next gen launch title.
