People love to get sanctimonious with the gameplay > graphics stuff. For me, playing on a controller at 20 fps at 720p is very much a gameplay issue, and will actively ruin my enjoyment of the game.

120fps@1080p or bust for me.

30fps and a rubber band frame rate is only going to give me motion sickness.

You only have to look at someone streaming on twitch at 60fps to see that it is far, far smoother than 60fps appears in game. 30fps in prerendered video is more equivalent to 60fps in game when you're comparing the perceived smoothness of the two.

but if you lock the fps at 30 there is no latency between frames which was my point.

people notice the fps jumping about it's nothing to do with 30 not being high enough for the majority of genres.

obviously FPS are better with more fps.
driving games are best played at at least 40

but pretty much everything else looks perfectly fluid at exactly 30fps the whole time.

obviously its nowhere near perfectly fluid but your brain isn't that hard to fool

there is no rubber band if the fps is constant...

its the fps moving from 24-30 etc that you notice the slowdown happening

There's a huge difference between being a passive viewer and actively controlling what going on when framerate is concerned. 30FPS is usually fine, but 60 is better for most games. 16 however is just too low imo.

Which is the problem; real time rendering always has a varied latency. At 30fps video will always have 33.33ms per frame, a game locked to 30fps won't, it doesn't even have to hit 29 or 31 fps for that slight difference of what will only really be 1-2ms every dozen frames or so to immediately have 30fps real time look nowhere near as smooth as 30fps on a video.
 
Ps3 version

This easy the best gta game to date, for those of you still not sure and want pc version.
Just go and buy it... Accept yes it's not going to look super HD does it effect game play? No not at all game still looks stunning at this for such old hardware.

Frame rate - at first I could feel it running choppy but tbh after couple hours play it just feels very smooth now.

Will defo be buying again on pc.

Hah, I've had it for two days and still not unwrapped it :p Been too absorbed in Borderlands 2...

But I think I'll load it up tomorrow, everybody is heaping praise on it.

Yup I was going to wait but decided to buy it, what the hell, I played on my ps3 for years before my PC so the graphics won't put me off :)

Should hopefully arrive on my birthday too! :D

There isnt an official release date. Only rumours/theories of when it will come. Some one on here said that a site emailed him to preorder GTA V for PC thatll come out in July 2014.
Some people believe itll come out in christmas, so that R* can suck up more sales.
In short, no one knows.

Coming from a 120hz IPS monitor there is no way i would play this game at 30fps. It would simply look like a horrible slideshow, ill wait for the PC version and hopefully we get a decent port so we can take use of the advanced gpu options.

Use the hype the consoles release have created, put a relatively decent price on it and state that the release date is only 2 months away seems like a great way of generating a large number of preorders
 
Right, slowly my ability to resit purchasing this is fading. Couple of possibly n00b questions.

I see folk talking about installing onto a USB drive, what's the reasoning behind this?

What's the music like in V? I always think the radio stations add so much to the atmosphere of the game, is it well implemented in V?.

Can you still add your own music to it?

Cant wait for this to come on PC, just hope its not bugged to hell like the GTA 4

I bet they wait for the new consoles to come out then announce an updated version to run on that and PC , and sit back and cash in
