GTA V

Im away for Christmas so my Mrs gave me my present early! A PS4 complete with GTA5 as grateful as I am i really was looking forward to playing it on the PC.

Get it on PC as well then.. I'm doing the same, although only want the PC version for mods.

According to one dev the PC version already runs at 60fps. No confirmation on what spec that is on at R* but this doesn't matter because look back at GTA 4 and you'll see that it ran like arse on even the highest end of machines so this is already a step up.

I don't know if its because im used to playing 2 ft from a 30" screen but Im having a hard time seeing the cross hair (dot) and any text on phone etc its making the game quite frustrating.

I'm sorry but that's a stupid statement. Computers are not console and they vary greatly. Some mug with a laptop will think they can run it at 60fps... Absolutely stupid statement.

I still have little faith in the performance of this game going off GTA IV. I'm more than happy to be proven wrong though.

It is not a stupid statement at all. If you think they will replicate gta4 then that's stupid.

We'll see but, walk through the logic before tearing into someone...

GTA4 ran like crap WHATEVER the setup.
GTA5 already does 60fps on unknown setup.
The logical conclusion is that it won't run like crap whatever the setup so it's a better state than GTA4 was. We'll just have to wait and see what kind of rig is needed for 60fps.

I have just played it on the Xbox One and its much smoother than when I played it on the 360. I expect it to run like the Xbox one/PS4 but with more graphics options and high res textures.

Rockstar saying the PC version is in the final stages of development with official spec requirements to be released this coming week!

Looking forward to seeing them

If a console with an amd mid range gfx chip can achieve 30 fps, there's hope for the pc version surely?

Just need the modding community to fix the physics now then :)

I need GTA 4's driving physics + destruction modelling before I pick this up again. Bought it full price on PS3 already and was one of my biggest regrets of the last year.

Incidentally, will be the first game I've ever needed to mod to enjoy.

GTA IV's driving physics were really fun, though I felt the cars where a little light.

Fortunately all the car stats were in a big plain text document so could easily be modded.

How is the driving worse in GTAV? Is it too easy?

Two things I found.

Collisions and damage were very poor. You could have multiple head on collisions and your car would only suffer superficial damage. Large vehicles seemed to have far less momentum/ inertia and would come to a sudden stop in a collision with a much smaller vehicle.

Handling and cornering were poor. You could turn a 90 degree bend at 100 mph and it seemed like you were glued to the road. Esp with motorcycles. It was like cornering in Tron :p

"Fun" means different things to different people, but I find controlling a car with realistic handling more fun than a game where I can't lose control by going too fast, etc. The fun is learning where the limits are, pushing close to them, and the "oh ****" moments where it all goes wrong :p

It feels like it! ( driving to easy/boring). I played gta 5 on ps3 for a coupleo f hours and I really really missed the gta4 driving. Gta 4 was rubbish for bikes but driving cars was nice there.

Just pre-ordered my copy, GTA and Civ games are the only 2 games I trust to pre-order.
I want the map/poster so stuck with the retail version, but I want it on steam :(.

Is it steamworks, does anyone know ?

GTA4 ran like crap WHATEVER the setup.

Why do people keep saying this ? It simply needs both a decent cpu and a decent GPU, it runs FAR nicer than on consoles, imho it's barely playable on ps3/x360 due to the frame drops.

I have a dated spec ( gtx570, first gen i7), and I play GTA 4 just fine at 2560x1440 ( I play it supersampled to get better AA, FXAA doesn't cut it imo). Sure it's not 60 fps, but much higher FPS than on the old crappy consoles while looking much better.

Framerate is off the roof if you play it at ''console'' settings ( 1280x720, traffic at 16 or 17 was it, all the other things on medium, draw and detail distance much lower, etc...).
