well what a faff trying to install this ******* game is. i was aware you had to signup for windows live and all that but this just takes the ****. :eek:

even when i thought i was finally going to get to play the game, it tells me it needs to update and so i have wait ages for that.

now my pc ain't top of the range and i knew i was only going to play on medium but even so... the textures and shadows are just downright horrible. i can't believe this made it out the door tbh. :(

and the missions? i got to date someone and i can't kill her and i can't end the date early otherwise you fail? WTF! :mad: really can't be doing with this sort of crap. i really hope it gets better....

oh and lastly, i can't even close the game properly. and ctrl-alt-del won't even bring up the task manager - i have to hard reset my pc to exit the game. ******* quality. :rolleyes:
 
Hahaha I know! Really ****es me off as i was looking forward to playing this. And even though my pc will happily run crysis, it won't play this smoothly!

What a pile of crap.
 
Works fine for me. Really enjoying the game actually. Great racing around the city. Really great cars and jumps around. It looks a lot better then the screenshots make it out to appear and well it looks better then GTA 3 so :)

Worth playing through a bit more, the missions aren't enthralling but the game is about free roaming as much as it is doing the missions and they do get better as you keep going.

oh i'll persevere. i love the gta series and i'm sure it will get better as the game goes on. it's just the first impressions are not good. :p

i like the physics and the car handling. i certainly wasn't expecting to get knocked flying when i ran out in front of car. :D
 
i havnt had problems since installing it.

but who the hell thought it was accecptable install process? ok i accecpt it takes time to install the actual game, but then windows live, then that absurd social club, 3 programs running to play the game.

i want the person who tested this install process and said, "this seems alright". Come here and anwer to me you idiot.
 
One of the better games I've played on PC and defiantly the best I've played on 360.

Looks and runs very well on my PC, and with a xbox pad is a joy.
The missions are fantastic, as are the characters, and the story line :)
The cars and city is brilliant fun ;) Great fun just driving about and doing random and crazy funny things.

Don't dismiss it early, you'll regret not playing such a great game.
 
i just got it yesterday and it seems to be running pretty well although the signing up during the install was a bit annoying.
 
It ran very well on my ps3 this time last year... (well at reasonably consistently)

Still an average gta, mainly as i felt a bit conned that there wasnt anything fun to do after the missions (and the friends dates now just remind me of the inbetweeners shouting FWEINDS in their faces and gunning the idiots down), but yeah its not the end of the world...

Do you have some sort of magic ps3? Because on my mates ps3 it ran really crap, only ''just playable'' such a terrible framerate.



My only complaint about gta IV remains the lack of AA.

You'll laugh... but GFWL doesn't seem to be neccessary to actually play the game. You're forced to accept and update it at install, but since I've installed there's been an update which I haven't bothered with, so it's says I'm not connected to GFWL while I play GTA. :D

And the social club is only neccessary to play online, so i've never bothered to create a login for that either.

And then there's the activation. DRM when I've already downloaded it through steam??

Nice going rock*. Give us more hoops to jump through next time ;)
 
Been playing it a lot recently, though I completed it ages ago so just messing about and the like. Second island is my favourite. ;)

Never had any real problems with it but it does run like a dog sometimes but still playable. :)

i don't see how you can complain about camera angles when you can control them all the time. :confused:

i'm slowly getting into this. the characters are quite funny. i thought that dating thing was going to be regular but luckily there's been no more of that (so far :p).
 
I installed the game and updated to the latest patch and keep getting a ws10 error. Something to do with live, updated that again and removed and reinstalled as advised by rockstar and still cant get it to work. Glad this crap only cost 12 quid.
