GTA4 - Will it be appearing on pc?

Thats exactly how i feel, i bought Vice City and San andreas and never got past about 10% because i couldnt play it. However i loved playing it when my friend had it on PS2.

i do agree that using a Controller on pc would substitute that, but this type of game needs to be used on a large screen while sitting on a Comfortable sofa, cant picture it any other way.

again thats not much of an argument lol. my pc is sitting next to my big screen. i also have a wireless 360 controller for it. sa honestly plays just as well as it does on the ps2, obviously it just look sa whole lot better lol

Hope it does come out PC soon, although I plan on buying a 360 + gta4 next week anyway as i'd rather not wait 6+ months for it.

I think if piracy is holding back games from the pc market so much then maybe they should reconsider there protection systems.

I mean we all know that MMO's dont get pirated, so that obviously means there system works. Why couldnt they as in the developers just implement a login/account system for all games.

You buy a game be it single player, multiplayer or what ever, you use its cd-key to register your account (no monthly cost unless its an mmo obviously). Now in order to play the game you would have to login, even for the single player game.

Sure this would alienate those that dont have an internet connection, but honestly who doesnt now adays.

I think this sort of system would go along way to combatting piracy, people wouldnt be able to play the games without loging into there account. How that system works to ensure its piracy free I couldnt say but im sure it would work.

I would say its not the login system that prevents MMO's from suffering from piracy. It's more the entire way in which MMO's operate. If you want to play the game as intended and play with/compete against other players ( as is the nature of MMO'd), then you must play on the official hosted servers ( since there are private servers available). Thus it is the nature of the genre that prevents piracy rather than any particular system.

Steam was supposed to be a step in the right direction in terms of the method your suggesting and we all know how well that turned out. Pretty much every game has been cracked and you can even play online on cracked servers.

if the online is worth playing the piracy wont be so rampant.
If they embrace steam it will also go in there favour.

What about cracked/private servers? Take TF2 for example, a very popular multiplayer game for PC and yet it is not required for you to purchase the game to play online against others.

TBH I don't think the PC version should take long if they are going to release the RAGE engine used to create GTA4 is a custom engine, made in house at Rockstar which is designed for PS3, Wii, 360 and PC so the ammount of work to get it onto the PC should be minimal.

I'd be happy if they gave us a straight port (with fixed controls) than added more fluff and delay the release.

They probably have at least a 6 month exclusivity contract on consoles though or something

How'd you know it's designed for PC? Do any games use it on PC?

Don't know why but when I saw RAGE I thought of the new iD engine. :p

cracked servers etc are a problem yea, but lets face it - steam games make a killing and cracked servers are not a widespread problem for modern day releases of a decent quality.
PC users pay for decent multiplayer.

Fortunately for Rockstar though, im one of those people that cannot wait and will there for be getting a 360 today along with a copy of the game, then in 6 months time when the pc version does come out I will just flog the 360 and get that instead.

Unfortunately for myself though, I am one of those people off to uni in september so need to save money, but am also getting a 360 soon along with a copy of the game, then in 12 months time will wonder why I failed the first year :D

I would definately think that it would, a lot of money to be made in the PC gaming market for that game.

Stelly

I can assure you they would make a lot of money if they released on the PC now, but unfortunately, they make a lot more by releasing it exclusively on the consoles first.

After all it sold 660k(~£29m) copies in its first 24 hours on the shelf, I doubt the PC would manage a quarter of that in sales numbers after several weeks.
