Just played GT Legends on my mates PC and was shocked at how awesome it is! A bit of research later and I see GTR 2 is similar but newer and will probably be buying it tommorow!

How have I lived without racing games like these! I'll only be playing with a keyboard but is it worth buying a whell to inhance the experience?

its definetely worth it, its amazing, the physics may not be up to the same level as LFS (at which point an angry swarm of fanboy's will attack me, but its mo) its still good to drive, but the graphics just blow me away, all the tracks and cars are very well made and very nice looking, and run at 40ish (min about 30) at almost all max (DX8) on my crappy geforce 6800 :)

im using a DFP to drive though, imo i would buy a wheel to fully appreciate it :)

i played gtr2... ive never played a game like it... it looks as tho its about 5 years old... and since when are cars designed not to turn. Im sure the response to my latter statement will be that its a sim... for me, it simulates a car thats had a quadruple blow out.

Disclaimer: i only played it for 2 minutes and was so disgusted i needed to turn it off... i have yet to go back to it... but will

You weren't playing with a keyboard were you? Games like GTR need a wheel to be an enjoyable game, and if you couldn't steer, you probably just were going too fast for corners or something. These games aren't for everyone mind.

yeh i was using a keyboard. I was excited to try it after what people had said. If i was going too fast then the game totaly lacks any sense of speed... but then that may in part be due to the terrible graphics. I will try it again.

It's not the best graphically no, and from the feel of it, it seems a slightly easier game compared to the original GTR. The game mechanics are still very good though I think.

im gonna give it a proper go tommorow. I was expecting a lot... and when i was confronted with something that looked at least 2 years old graphically, i gave up. Then when my car decided it could be bothered turning i quit the game

:D

I tried the demo, there is no real feel to the speed of the car until you approach 250kph The car drives like a shopping trolley at relatively slow speeds too.

Sure I could learn to drive it but it's hardly a simulation.

Are we sure were talking about GTR.

gtr/gtr2 are with out dout the daddy of all race sims for sure.

Get hold of a wheel and forget about fancy gfx and im sure after a few hours of play you will never look back.

cheers .

I think they have gone too far with the tyre model. I know they are racing slicks but for me to be able to go full throttle out of a hairpin corner straight away and not spin out (it only jerks a bit) seems un realistic to me.

- Btw Mundu, stick it in pro simulation and turn all of the aids off in your PLR under userdata/your name. Put a 0 next to all of them to turn off TC fully. Plus get the cracked EXE's from RSC and convert some tracks over from GTL add on ones.

I had another go on it... and its growing on me :D

i think that the keyboard deffinately doesnt help... whats the best wheel money can buy. Do u buy pedals seperately or is there buttons on the wheels for acceleration.

This is without a doubt my first go on a proper racing sim... i will have a proper play tonight... but the keyboard controls are very poor.

The Logitech MOMO is probably the best wheel you can get for <£100, or the Logitech Driving Force Pro. There's also the £200 Logitech G25 that's coming out, but that's rather expensive, but a bargain compared to the £1000+ wheel + pedals you can get.

I'll definately be buying it when its out.

But 2 years old? I know it doesnt have the best graphics but they look pretty good to me!

That looks pretty good to me.

already started saving my pennies for the G25 :D

I've been using my psz controller and it makes it slightly easier to control although my analouge is constantly vering towards the left so I can't use it for steering. I'd love to get a wheel for it as I can imaging it being even more enjoyable. :D

with GTR2, if you dont have a wheel, i reccomend using the mouse steering option, its better than a gamepad or keyboard :)
