GTX 1070 - any takers?

Nvidias high prices has got nothing to do with AMD, its all those who keep buying them at those high prices that are the cause, simple fact is, if they left them on the shelves gathering dust, they'd sharp drop em, but they won't, plus its Nvidia. :p

Starting to think this price is a troll from ocuk, there is no advertisments for it on the webpage, no forum admins saying a word, as far as i can see they are not released.

It's not ;).

The NDA is till 2pm.

In 25 minutes you will see. Also other retailers have same or higher prices for the same 1070 models that were on here. So they must be all trolling their customers or they confused today with April Fools Day.

Maybe just testing the water with the pricing. Release postponed until next week to rejig pricing ;)

Maybe that shows that the prices aren't actually that high......

Been following this thread for a few days now, very good info folks. Thanks for that.

I'd read an article yesterday which recommended waiting until the 480 was out and I had no intention of waiting but £400 is a ludicrous amount of money for a singular component.

I've been building my own PC's for over a decade now and have almost always managed to stick to the £150-£170 price point for a singular component, you tend to get the best bang for buck around there. Recently though, constantly held back by my 670Ti and having to tweak gfx settings I wanted something that would offer remove that ceiling and just allow me to click HIGH and it just work.

I've got the money, that isn't the question but I could fly to the states with that amount of money, tis absurd!

Question though, how do we know the NDA is 2pm? I called around a couple retailers yesterday and they all gave the same "There's an embargo on information and I can't even say when the embargo lifts"

the 1070 is a nice card but the pricing is just silly if its £400 or Higher

If they launched at £329 then it woukd have taken up most of those looking to upgrade before the 480 even got on the Scene

Yep, 329 I'd have been ok with.

But it's just way too much at the current price. I'm waiting on the 480 now. I'm looking for an upgrade either way, this has just convinced me to wait it out.

Rest in pepperonis 1070, the dream.

Totally agree

I was almost certain to pre order a 1070 today, now I think I'll wait to see

Well done Nvidia, you've just priced yourself s out of quite a few customers, AMD, the initiative is now yours

They can also get away with the high prices for the 1070/80s, as they are a couple of hundred pounds cheaper than their slower TXs. :D

The TX model was always a genius move from Nvidia, allowing them to riase the value of every card that comes after it, "oooo look, this mid range card is only £450 and because it matches last gen's TX which was a billion pound, it must mean it's a bargain!!"

That was basically Nvidia's conference.

Well this community is only 10% of ocuk customer base, so I still expect them to sell loads of them. Not sure if I will be, I did plan on buying two for sli. But I'll wait and see what the rest of the pascal line brings.

if it were 330 i would be 85% sure that i would be getting 2.. now i dont even want one if the 400+ price holds.. actually even if the price is less than 400 i think im so negative about the whole thing (and stuborn) that i have a "go f yourself" mentality. I rather just wait i think.. But to be fair, i can still change my mind a 1000 times before the day is over..

LOL, yeah, it's all a big prank, because no one would ever pay that much for a 1070, just like no one is paying the £620 for the 1080 FE... oh, wait a minute. :p

good thing is if it turns out to be a load of s we can retrurn within 14 days to get money back

No you can't - at least not all of your money back.

can we do this even if its been installed?

Nope. The DSR used to allow this but was replaced with different, tighter regs late last year. You now have the same rights to inspect goods that you'd have in a shop before returning for a full refund but you can't actually use the items and then return them expecting a full refund.
