GTX 1070 - any takers?

AMD should release a ton of info on their Polaris products on Monday at the PCGamer part of E3, we all know they wont, but they really should, just to stick the boot into Nvidia lol.

Those 1070 prices are utterly ludicrous

If AMD had any smarts about them it should be obvious to them that now is the time to go on the offensive.

But too often they don't.

seems like ill be buying one, only want to pay 400 max though..

sold my 980 ti 430 last month..
got bored and nabbed a titan x for 400 lol
yesterday my friend said he'd give me 520 for the titan x so now its sold lmao

looks like ill just buy a 1070 now then.. would have been a 1080 but can't see the 1080 aero being in stock for ages and cba waiting, going to slap a universal gpu block on the 1070 if I do end up getting one.

was getting used to the titan x aswell :(

whats keeping me positive is future driver updates should bring more performance hopefully, also have a gtx 1080 g1 gaming on backorder for £559(they dont take payment until despatch) which is another option if the 1070 aint good enough.

No competition means massively inflated prices. Seeing as AMD had to show a couple of their newest cards was needed to beat Nvidia's newest card, this makes for a sad future.

7970 was launched at $500 and the 680 was launched at $450. No AMD competition this time :(

And don't forget that the 970 was unusually reasonably priced, esp for nVidia ;)

This is puerly speculation but based in fairly solid clues.

AMD will be releasing a $300 card. It's not the 4GB or 8GB 480

So one can suume its a 490?

Most charts I've seen online put said "490's" performance on level with the 1070.

So £2xx or..... £400+

If you can wait a while....you know you should.

Problem is there has been so little info leaked about it - a single 3dmark pic. It's not very promising.

Lol. So many said the exact same thing with the 1080 launch "IM NOT PAYING MORE THAN £450!"

Then a week later you see them posting away in the GTX1080 owners thread. lol.

Seen it. Heard it.

Over £400, wow that's crazy my old 970 was 320 I think on release and I was annoyed at that increase

People who buy these cards are feeding the spiraling prices, my hard earned £300 is saying where it is for now I refuse to take part in feeding these ever increasing prices

Lol, I'd suggest anyone buying a 1070 should keep it to themselves for a while, as they'll be setting themselves up as a real hate figure around here.

:)

I'm settled on buying a 1070.

Moving from a R9 290, my AOC 24" GSYNC monitor arrived yesterday, and regardless of AMD offerings, felt confident going 1070.

I've been AMD for some time and while no "real" issues with either manufacturer, the AMD cards have been way to noisy, way too warm, and I just want to try out the other side to see how it feels.

The initial pricing point there feels high. I was planning to buy after 25th of this month(payday) but could buy now if I wanted. Will probably hang off and see if pricing settles and if AMD's launch can impact pricing a bit.

For me as an Irish customer, from those slipped prices I'm looking at £550, which is actually not overly interesting or acceptable, and if they don't come down a bit I might continue to hold off.

Money isn't specifically the object here, I just have some principles attached to my purchasing at times, and feel Nvidia are being a bit brave here with the pricing. And the only way to outline to brands "no, not paying that" is actually not buying the stuff.

Don't begrudge anyone buying one, people are free to do what they want with their money. Everyone though should be conscious of potentially negative effects a purchase can have on the market as a whole.

The 970 was a "loss" that Nvidia were willing to take to kill AMD stone dead, and it worked. There's no reason for them to do it again with AMD still licking their wounds from last time. We won't see any movement on Pascal prices until Vega arrives, providing it competes.

its AMDs fault

its because Nvidia actually has their **Fully star out all swearing** together

& is actually better, simple as that, as much as I hate these prices its true.

Agreed pricing is silly, but is it Nvidia or the retailers

Deifnitely retailers at the moment due to supply.

Nvidia have set the MSRP of $379 for custome ones. The 1070's should start at around £330 upwards, and they will eventually. Just like the 1080's will drop a bit and start at more like £500+

You have been able to catch an eye of the real price of these cards ( 1080 customs) on certain other retailers...

It is just gouge time central at the moment what with high demand, short supply and no competition.

Others might argue its because Nvidia fan base would pay almost anything for anything Nvidia. And Nvidia know it.

For the rest of us tho, there is an alternative, hopefully.
