Why are people down on the 1660? Its basicly going to be a 2060 without the RTX features right? The 2060 isnt powerful enough to actually use those features anyway, seems like a great card if thats the case! Although I could be wrong here and its not comparable to the 2060.
And that's how Nvidia make money from the Joe public with their fancy wordings in their marketing and misleading consumers :p

No, slower than a 1070/there is 2gb less

According to this leak:
https://www.extremetech.com/gaming/...del-information-leaks-from-multiple-retailers
The 1660ti has 288GB/S comapred to 256GB/S for the 1070.

Additionally, the 1660ti has much better data compression, in games it will be less bandwidth limited.

There is 2GB less but that wont be an issue at all just like it isn't with the 2060.

Remember, the 1660ti uses much faster GDDR6, while the 1070 doesn't even use GDDR5X but the vanilla GDDR5

For clarity, whether anyone says '2gb less doesn't matter' it's got 2gb less than the faster cheaper 1070!

It's yet another rip off 'replacement' product stack!

Historically the replacement was faster and had at least the same amount of cram, but most importantly it was priced lower!

''It just works!"

Just seems like a monumental gap :D

The problem is there has been no new nodes that have been suitable since then. 10nm was a no go for big GPUs, and 7nm is extremely expensive and not ready for high volume big dies until liekly end of the year.

The 1070 wont be on sale soon so it is rather irrelevant. The 2070 is the successor to the 1070, that still have 8GB. The predecessor to the 1660Ti is the 1660 which had the same 6GB.

Why compare to the 1070? Because it is the previous generation and the peformance lines up. Then you look at the price. If you are happy paying almost the same for something with less memory 3 years later... Go for it.
