GTX 295 Benchmarks.

as a comparison my rig gets 15000 in vantage

so factor in the extra cores/processing power of the i7

but if you specifically look at the gpu scores with physX...

280 = 12492
295 = 21518

so its just under double the score

real world performance - its the same league as the 4870X2

basically - its not worth even looking at this card unless you are running a 24" or larger monitor

bear in mind - this card is using super early beta drivers - it will get performance boosts here and there once nvidia optimise the drivers

3dmark 06 is not a good performance indicator of newer cards - in my opinion it became even less relavent with the release of the 4800/gtx200 series of cards

quick scan of the futuremark results pages seems the average i7 at 3.4/3.3 with a 4870X2 [using latest drivers] comes up with 27500 3DMarks

so we are looking at

27500 for the X2 using latest drivers
25000 for the 295 using launch day drivers

put that on a core 2 rig and you may be looking at around 10% knocked off the scored [at a guess]

Any ideas how much quicker a [email protected] is over a [email protected]?? - Just so I can compare agasint your Vantage standard score

an i7 would trounce a q6600 in everything

the beauty of vantage is that you get seperate scores for cpu/gpu

example [using no physix runs to eliminate difference in gpu] - my q6600 at 3.8GHz got a cpu score in the region of 15000 with physix off

the i7 at 3.3GHz gets 21536

imagine what a 4ghz i7 gets!

of course this is all benchmarking - real world - if you had a core2 rig with a 280 and an i7 rig with a 295 running side by side you would only be able to tell the difference on very high resolutions

Excellent, thanks rjkoneill !

Seems the x2 is doing more than well against the new nvidia heavyweight then.

yeah its still a great card - and very capable

i think nvidia need to concentrate on getting a good set of forceware out for this card

that way we can get a good idea of what its really capable of

if the test card is still in the ocuk tech department by the time we get some official drivers then me and Locky will get on the case and retest

its just a shame its too early to tell how its going to perform - im projecting 10% increases as thats what they got from the 9800GX2
hopefully they will match it

also - just glanced at Yewens thread that involved pricing of the cards [and the inevitable whining over it]

glad to see that this thread has stayed concentrating on the performance rather than the cost

keep up the good work guys!

I did a Bench run on 3dmark Vantage today in Quad SLI cpu at 3.6ghz, ram 1333mhz 8,8,8,24

Cards overclocked to 680core 1166 mem.

Got a score of 36106 only 400 points from being the fastest of the orb all with stock cooling.

Well I just benchmarked Vantage with my 2 Year old Q6600 @ 3.6 and 295GTX 620/1200 I pulled over 21k. I guess the [email protected] is fast, but I'm not far behind I'm pleased to say if I manage to overclock my 295GTX to 700 Core then that would close the gap even more :p

Dont worry sorted it now, I was overclocking the Shader therefore limiting me.

I finally got 680/1200 1380-Shader which gave me a Vantage score of 22500 :) Next upgrade will be an i7 so I can get even more out of this card

It's reassuring to hear that it overclocks well, despite being a sandwich card. I guess moving to the 55nm process was a big help in getting the 295 to work this well.

Does ATi tool work with this card... I have overclocked 700/1200/1400 and I dont get any errors, thats to good to be true! Is there any other way of testing a GPU overclock?

evga precision or rivatuner is best

we use evga at work because Locky has an account

but Rivatuner is just as good

always unlink the shaders too!
