GTX 460 HELP

yeh was looking at the xfx version earlier, the sapphire does look cool tho. ive just stuck the old faithful 8800gt in and taken the ****e 460 out of my system lol
 
Not many people have this issue, I've bought a MSI 460 to be on the safe side. It's very reliable in fact, very stable for overclocking too. I'm clocked at 880/1760/2100 running at 1.087V. So it's very good and stable, Well I'm getting decent performance out of it anyways.

when i tried overclocking, apparently it didnt like it so much so it underclocked itself!, uninstalled all drivers and reinstalled the card and bam! Its working at stock, i havnt tried overclocking it yet, but will do in the next couple of days.

Ok great news if all your games are running smooth now, although I wouldn't say your card is out of the woods yet as it shouldn't be down-clocking and refusing to clock back up without removing the card and reinstalling drivers.
Hopefully it will allow you to overclock now without playing up, as most of the point of getting a 460 is it's overclocking headroom which makes the card good value.

Allot of these issues arn't apparent for a good few days by reading user comments and they seem to be mounting up.
You got the MSI? Does the MSI use higher quality components or something then?
 
yeh i havnt tried overclocking it again just yet, will wait a while until im confident in it! but its fine at stock for now anyways. Its just the noise of the thing in idle that gets me, fan cannot be turned to below 40%.

If your unhappy with it you can apparently still send it back for whatever reason in under 7 days because of the distance selling rules.
I would seriously consider either opting for a different 460 or a 5850.

The EVGA one i have did would keep re-setting the bios..

With the gigabyte i just keep getting driver crashes which i have now found to be quite a common problem with my board and the 460 gtx..

I,m returning the 980 board and 460 Gtx and have ordered an 890FX Amd board and a 4850...

Oh ok, is the 4850 a temporary card or something?
Yeh, apparently these 460's don't like certain motherboards, so guess you had no other choice really.

oops meant 5850... :D

I think the fact that my Nvidia graphics does not work in my Nvidia motherboard is a bit silly and why i,m going back to Ati..
