gtx 590 spec`s and priced

he's also guessing 650-700. i found that canadian site yesyerday through a hong kong google search and posted on the main gtx 590 thread saying, if we are to believe the canadian dollar value it shud be 499 in the uk and £599 with VAT. if we work backwards from the 6990 price then it shud be 600-650

I recon to 'max' something would be to run it at 1920x1080 at max quality setting with maybe 2x AA and get no lower than 60FPS.

I doubt anything other than maybe a 580/ATI equivelants could do this.

why bother even releasing something like this when a £150-£200 card can max anything

...is correct...

Its clear that neither of you play above 1080p & even at 1080p there is no card that can max out all games & hold 60fps but 60fps minimum is down to personal preference but i doubt that anyone would moan if they never dropped below 60fps.

840Mhz GTX590 from MSI....

Google translate....

MSI launched the fastest in the history of performance, single-card dual-core N590GTX-P3D3GD5, equipped with two 40-nm core GeForce GTX 500 chipsets, with up to 1024's CUDA cores and 768bits of 3GB GDDR5 memory. In addition, the MSI N590GTX-P3D3GD5 a single card to run NVIDIA 3DVision Surround technology, graphics card, so that players only use one N590GTX-P3D3GD5 graphics card can output the three screens, enjoy 3D animated three-dimensional video games, is definitely top choice for gamers doomed to failure!

Double single card dual-core performance
MSI N590GTX-P3D3GD5 uses advanced 40-nanometer manufacturing process to create the core GeForce GTX 500 chipsets, with up to 1024 (512units x2) stars in the CUDA kernel, and then carry 768bits (384bits x2) 3GB GDDR5 high speed memory, is the world's fastest display card. Also supports NVIDIA Quad SLI technology, dual-card operation of the absolute limits of performance for enthusiasts to meet the requirements of!

Support performance improvement over 38% of the voltage function
In addition to basic fan speed control and burn-in testing, MSI N590GTX-P3D3GD5 supports Afterburner super voltage function, pressurized by a 607MHz core clock setting raised to 840MHz, an increase of up to 38% overclocking potential, and then with the advanced graphics technology game , gives players more smooth gaming experience.

And with the reference being slated for £650-£700 the ~230Mhz overclocked one is going to be a fun price
Unless they are limiting the max overclock of the cards to 840Mhz and they all come in around 600Mhz.

This may be a dumb question but I'll ask it anyway LOL. Instead of 2 GPU's on 1 card, why don't they increase the power to 1 GPU and give it higher clocks/shaders?

I think:
It's a bit like using cookie cutters on dough for a whole generation, then using a new mix and cutters that cost the same but only produce a fraction of the units. The cookies will be astronomically expensive in comparison.
