GTX 780 Owners Club

trying to decide what to get, thinking of going 780 SLI, as just got a third 1080p monitor so will be going surround, these 770s look nice tho.

cant seem to find a benchmark comparing the 2 in surround, anyone seen one?

Seems about 10 fps difference between 770 sli and 780 sli, and then only another 7 fps going up to Titan sli at surround 1080p - http://www.guru3d.com/articles_pages/geforce_gtx_770_sli_review,23.html

Given the £400 saving for the sake of 10 fps if buying 770s instead of 780s, I'd go for 770s. Extra £400 could be spent on other upgrades or even a third 770 for tri-sli with change to spare - http://us.hardware.info/reviews/444...etimes-battlefield-3---5760x1080-+-frametimes

what about VRAM ...

If you look at the benchmarks I posted it doesnt seem to be a problem. It is users' experience on this forum that you run out of GPU power before u can get near to maxxing the VRAM unless applying lots of texture mods or large amounts of AA. Bear in mind a game will allocate as much of the VRAM available as it can, it does not mean that it "needs" all of it.

Blimey look at the (Multi Monitor review - Guru3D) Radeon 7990 tonking everything bar the titan sli and 780 sli though drawing some with 780 sli. Shame they didn't have 7970 ghz crossfire in that review as that would be even faster than the 7990.

If it doesn't stutter to the point of unplayability. ;)

I don't take their reviews too seriously @Guru3D, these are the people who up until very recently did their multi GPU reviews on an i7 965 @3.75ghz lol.

Having said that there is a bit of a performance drop on the GTX 780s @1600p and above, why have the reviewers not explored this in any of the reviews.

The problem is they don't show the minimum fps :(

Something is wrong with their 7970 ghz results for sure. I have run exactly the same in game settings & res on an older AMD driver.

What they have

They seem to be having a bit of trouble with getting their resolutions correct, some cards fps change but the HD 7970 is the same.:D

Lol good spot Kaap. Pretty sure their other results on the 7970 ghz are off as well. Hitman is definitely out, they're only using the HIGH quality preset. I got more fps than that using the Ultimate preset.
