GTX 980 SLI

Yeah thanks for confirming. I saw that fix and have done it, but tbh not sure I notice any difference in terms of running. I have read another article that reckons its normal these days to see voltage differences on cards and especially in sli anyway....

Titan SLI user here & no regrets thus far.

OP, sorry to hijack :-(

Geeman, would you have waited on the 980's before going Titan SLI? I'm looking at my next upgrade and as awesome as the 980's seem to be I'm concerned about running out of VRAM on the latest titles. Sloppy Dev's :-(

Hey, no worries, its all sli related :).

I could have waited for 8GB 980's but to be honest at my resolutions it simply isn't needed. SoM runs perfectly for me with Ultra textures. And I think that's the key, it depends on what resolution you intend to game at.

You'll be fine on 980s with VRAM. He wouldn't have waited as he's had them awhile :p

4K is where you need to be concerned about less than 6GB frame bufferage. You want three cards really for that anyway ;)

My 2 reference 980's will be here on Monday. I'm not worried about 4k. I'll stay on 1440p. 980 SLI will be great for many years to come or until 16nm.

Ran SLI for over a year now, not all game's have day 1 support and some games just dont make use of SLI enough to warrant using two cards for that game, but overall the experience is good from my end
just wish I had an i7!

Worst thing that can happen using SLI or CF for that matter is you get a game that does not support it. If this happens you turn off SLI or CF and you are no worse off than if you had stuck with a single card. In most cases SLI or CF does work so this is all a bonus.

Well I'm pleased to say I'm loving SLi. :)

I do however have a question driver related. Due to a couple of quirks with 344.48 I've rolled back to 344.16. Via Geforce Experience, shouldn't I still get the latest SLi profiles? If so is there any reason why I dont have Ryse Son Of Rome one? I believe it was released along with 344.48, but shouldn't I still receive it independently? Just wondering how the SLi profile update side of things works or doesn't as the case may be ;)

Thanks.
