GTX 980.....what is the best bang for buck upgrade?

Thanks everyone for your input...I never expected to get so many replies.

After some consideration I've decided to go for a 1070.....while this may seem like a smaller upgrade I was able to pick one up new for £272 EVGA GeForce GTX 1070 SC Gaming.
Now i think for bang/buck comparison that might just be it...1080 would have been better as many of you have said but the cost jump is huge over this card.

Where did you get one for that price? :O

I'm afraid i cant say other than it's legit. They come in stock on the Oct 19th and it's a US purchase although an international company.
The price also includes the import tax.

Very similar situation here to yourself Merzil - I have a Dell U3415W running on a GTX 970 and also appreciate quiet graphics cards. I did have two in SLI at one point, but in the end decided to sell one after the non-existent support of SLI in Rise of The Tomb Raider at launch and microstutter issues. I was hoping the release of the nVidia 2xxx series cards would open up a range of high performance options at a reasonable price, but that's looking very unlikely now :P

I'm leaning towards waiting it out and seeing if the RTX 2070 pushes the price down of the GTX 1070 Ti / 1080. Failing that, I might even hold out until NAVI arrives. Congrats on that 1070 deal, can see why you jumped on it.

How's the 1070 going at 3440x1440 60hz? I'm still wondering where to go from my GTX 970 with the same monitor as yourself, so any thoughts would be appreciated.
