GTX580 specs and benchmarks

Am I the only one that won't go near any dual chip cards or sli/xfire setups?

The problems aint worth it.

Single card/chip solution to run eyefinity in reasonable settings is what I'm waiting for.

dual chip card such as the 5970 is basicaally flawless now. Has been since 10.4 drivers... Its when you crossfire two single cards you get issues

Didn't he say for about 6 months that we were definately getting a GX2 card based on GF100.

What I'm really loving about every leak on the 580GTX from Nvidia sites is, well usually a new generation leak, especially from somewhere like FUD is

"this card is so fast it will blow away last gen and give AMD lots to think about"

This time around the big news is, from all of them

"it should be quieter than a 480gtx"

WOOOOOOO!!!

I for one can't wait to have a similar speed at a lower noise level, thats what new generations are all about :p

Honestly though, it is funny thats basically the only really positive thing they can come up with to say about it.

I'm not particularly a fan of Nvidia's 2-3 times a year proper driver release, and their habit of holding back performance to pee of AMD with a new card being released, nor the 15 beta's for every new game thats a Nvidia game anyway. AMD manages to most often come along with a Nvidia game release offer one hotfix to fix most problems before the game launches, I still find it hilarious Crysis, one of the most anticipated titles for years, an Nvidia title, AMD launched a hotfix before release, Nvidia released about 10 over the week after launch.

Nice spot of hyperbole there. 10.10a..b..c..d how far will they go?

Are you Charlie in disguise? As ever a kernel of fact wrapped up a bunch of spin and half truths. Your posts would be of so much more value if you dropped the constant anti Nvidia bias.

Gotta agree that whole post from dm didn't really sit with me, where as normally what he says does. Sorry, but having severe problems in some of your drivers that you don't fix for many months and having a borked driver path for crossfire users is not very good, no matter how many releases you bring out.

Having actually owned both 5850 crossfire and 470GTX SLI I won't go back to AMD in a hurry unless they do something spectacular, regardless of what Mavis Beacon or the other nvidia haters say.
